Am I the only one irritated by these stupid meaningless polls? What is the point of this? Buy the bass you like, deal with the jack location, then get a life.

Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s pointless. The point is to see where people like their jacks and why. I build basses, not buy. This poll is different than the others which were limited to two fender-based options.

The relevant questions for me are:

• Can I use either an angled or a straight plug? Sometimes only one or the other is readily at hand.
  
• Can I loop the cable behind my strap neatly for strain relief? I have a Gibson Flying V guitar where it looks ridiculous, looping from the point with the jack to the point with the strap button.
• Can I put the guitar down on a stand or upright against an amp without putting pressure on the jack?
• Can I plug/unplug in a hurry without putting undue stress on something breakable?

On the basis of the above, I prefer side jacks, but not to the point where I'd insist on them.

Standard front jack with a right-angle end on the cable, so it naturally hangs straight down out of the way, swivels with movement, doesn't put as much stress on the cable end, and doesn't interfere with me setting the bass on a stand while plugged in.

That said, my current main player is a Gretsch 2202 with a side jack. So I'm adaptable.

Never knew that it had a designation.
But I like the "tail jack"on my Tune basses.

I like to stick the strap through a loop in my cord to keep me from stepping on it and pulling it out when I'm standing and playing.



The location also keeps me from pushing the plug against my seat when I sit and play.
