The company I work for implemented the “work by design” concept, basically means that you manage your own schedule. You decided when to be at the office, when to leave or when to work from home.

I usually work from home 6am to 8am, drop the kids at school and get to office around 9:30. I leave around 3:30. I take every other Friday off.

I am leaving tomorrow for a business trip that is four weeks long I will be in Japan, Malaysia, Sinpagore and India. During these trips I usually work 15 hours per day M-F

But I am negotiating a flexible 4-10s schedule. In other words, the weekday off would vary from week to week and I would work 6:30-5:00 four days a week. I am hoping to start the new schedule January 1st. The day off per week would be determined by which days I can get into the buildings I need to work. So it could be Monday one week and Thursday the next.

That being said @elgecko I agree with you. Mrs.Fingers and I took the day off to knock out most of our Christmas shopping. People our age (+/- 40) were most of who we saw out today....like you say "working age".

i work in my livingroom on the computer, and hours are all over the map. during the week i often get some work done at around 5:30 am (my husband wakes up and 5 am), then go back to sleep around 8 or 9, waking and going back to work from 1 pm till... whenever. it depends on what's on my plate.

2 pm to (normally) 10 pm. I'm the closing guard at a large bank's central cash vault. I'm the last one out, but... if the books don't balance/data transfer isn't complete, management can't leave 'till all that's OK. And, since they can't set the alarms - neither can I. I have - very occasionally - still been there to greet the opening guard the next day. At 5 am... I like overtime as much as anybody, but that's pushing it. Especially when I'm still expected to show up at 2 pm as normal...

My basic schedule is M-F 8am-4pm, but it's very flexible and it's expected to work weekends/nights/etc. when necessary. Lucky for me it's not all that necessary and I get to schedule the work whenever I want.

2:30pm to 11pm Sun-Thursday, and right now we are working our normal schedule on either Fri or Sat.
I prefer these hours, but it makes it hard to do things like take lessons. Not many people like doing things at midnight.

2 weeks 7 to 3, 2 weeks 3 to 11. Some 12 hour shifts thrown in. Every other weekend is mandatory except when it's slow. Non mandatory weekend are mandatory when the company says so. When it's slow overtime is available to the select few.

I work when I want to and when I have to. Which is a lot. I haven't had a regular 9-5 in years. I don't miss it, but it's not always awesome to have to keep coming up with things to do.

i'm retired: my day usually starts around 5am, but it's coffee, news, yada yada, and then off to the races: whatever my project is currently (writing/arranging, PA building/maintenance, etc.). i do TB most mornings until the coffee is gone and then again throughout the day (my computer is in my work area) when i can.

when i worked as a 'white-collar professional': 9-9 more or less (lots of downtime, sometimes!)
when i worked in the music biz: all times --- down times were the enemy!

i worked for a large corporation once: 9-5.

entrepreneurialism is difficult to schedule.

It varies. M-F in an office, but there’s some flexibility. I don’t like getting up before 8 or rush hour traffic, so 10-6:30 or 7 is my preference, but sometimes I’ll have a 9 am meeting. Nights and weekends as needed to get stuff done (sometimes necessary), and I occasionally work from home for a few hours or all day.
