When Does Your Summer End?

The public schools around here like to have about two days of school, then the long Labor Day weekend, I guess to ease the kids in, then they really start teaching in earnest after the holiday. I've taught at colleges that would start classes before Labor Day, and one of my daughters' schools does, but the one I teach at has students move into dorms before, and then classes start Tuesday or Wednesday after.
What as it Twain said "The coldest winter I ever endured was a summer in San Francisco."
When I was in the Corps, I befriended this brother from Baltimore. He wore his shades 24/7 so one night I asked him why he did that. He told me "man I'm so cool the sun shines round me ALL the time."
I work at a university running classroom technologies, and the fall term starts August 25th. My life is on countdown to that date. As a bonus, I get to move me and my staff to a different building the week before classes start. It's not my favorite fall term this time around.

Weather-wise. Summer here ends around the end of October, beginning of November. That's about when the temps finally start getting lower than the upper 80's.

Summer ends in Seattle when it starts to rain. That happens on September 15, October 15, or November 15. We never know exactly what month, but it's generally on the 15th of the month. Then it rains until June. We act weird if we get a little too dry.
I would hate to miss Autumn.
Yah...the only problem with living in SoCal is that millions of others want to live here too. A lot of open space that I grew up with is no longer open space.

Mammogram is down but I'm working manually
Well to be fair we have two and they are "still some light after dinner" and "bummer man, it's already dark." Fire season is no longer contained by Sept-Nov and the abomination of Uggs & Skirts has sadly escaped the brisk and chilly low 60's dare I say high 50 degree January-Mar time frame.
IMO, being warm all year does not equal summer all year. Even in the tropics, there are seasons for different crops or rain. For me, the change of season is as much about changes in activities as it is about weather.
Usually around the middle of September the weather starts getting consistently cooler around where I live. However the weather has been so inconsistent and weird this Summer who knows. We'll probably have 90 degree days in November and two feet of snow next June...ah the Midwest.
In my part of the Midwest, summer has consistently been below average with the exception of maybe two weeks.
