When mere words fail...Fender Custom Shop

Some of VINCENT VAN TRIGT other builds;

Maybe if they were one-off customs for Dusty Hill and he personally played them live for years with history behind it, then I MIGHT be able to justify those prices BUT, as it is realistically... what drugs are these guys on at Fender to come up with the pricing for this stuff?!?!? Wow. SMH....

Fender designed his instruments, these ones in particular, to be very affordable to reproduce, and EASY to reproduce, while maintaining high quality and consistent tone from instrument to instrument.

Having super fancy woods is wonderful, and certainly that increases the cost. Having an incredible uber builder hand make it, that's wonderful, so you get attention to detail that no original fender ever would have had, nor would he have been concerned with that in his builds (Leo Fender).

So it's great, but for that price? Get a truly brilliant company to build you a P bass, like warwick, spector, alembic, hell Ernie Ball, Ibanez, I mean.. seriously.... Carvin (whatever they're called now, similarly brilliant instruments though)....

Why pay so much for something with the fender name on it?

Isn't this why we have other brands of superior fender bass builds? NON fender branded? If you want a lookalike that's better, buy one. They exist from other makers.

I love fender and all that, but that's literally throwing money away on extreme over priced workmanship.

The ash&elm bass looks nice IMO. It's not my kind of bass and definitely not something I would pay even remotely close to 12k for but it has a certain charm. The himalayan cedar bass makes me think of someone's first home project. I'm sure it smells nice but if I saw it in a music store I would walk straight past it.

The whole "reclaimed wood" marketing is just sad IMO. If Fender are REALLY concerned about the environment they should use reclaimed wood for their production models, rather then just for two hideoulsy overpriced custom shop basses. I mean, they're actually exploiting a loophole in the CITES regulations to be able to use large amounts of a CITES-listed, endangered species for their fretboards! How's that for environmental friendly? Also, if they are really concerned about trees ending up on landfills they would achieve a lot more by improving their quality control. This smells like a sorry attempt at greenwashing. It makes me think of oil companies that spend fortunes on "green" marketing campaigns.

Step right up folks….you too can get a salvaged tree bass guitar ripped from their roots during storms….that’s right…step right up you may even be one of the lucky ones and receive one of the diseased trees or just maybe one that rotted away from natural deterioration…
how about one made from a homeless persons makeshift shack just recently demolished by the cities bureaucrats….
Only $12,000 everyone’s a winner!!!
Now who’s gonna spin the wheel??? :)

If it floats yer boat'- so be it.. Got the money? No wife, or family that a really questionable purchase will impact? Go for it.
Fender Custom shop, you say? $11,900.00? Wow.
I build my own parts Fenders, and buy some used Lefty Fender basses when the opportunity presents itself.
What's next? A bass made out of recycled pallets?
You can literally, get a Luthier built, World class quality P-bass or any other Fender clone instrument, for a lot less. I mean like, you could buy three four at the current market prices. Even used Fender Custom Shops' are around anywhere from 2- 3k.
Ah, the free market..

12K is perfectly reasonable for a minty fresh 66 P bass...nice weight, punchy grey bottom PU's ie... a dead original good one that simply wasn't used. This? Its just Fender desperate to stop going under.

How about make one for ownself ?

Indo Cv 50P , de-dress the body paint, oil rub or stain, whatever you want. Just sanded the yellowish neck high gloss a bit. Buy similar hardware , request Fralin wound the pickup sound 99.9% like custom Shop Josefina hand-wound '51 pup, Jokomo inlay sticker.....

Calculate total amount spend.....
