Two basses in a gig bag, a Kemper in a rack, two guitar stands (the folding kind) and a brief case for incidentals all fit behind the front seats in a modern 911. If you must use an amp, an SWR Baby Blue combo fits nicely in the front trunk. This leaves plenty of room in the passenger seat for your wife or girlfriend (but not bothWell you know, Fender wants to be a lifestyle brand . . . . if I put the bass in the passenger seat of the 911 Carrera 4, nobody can go with me, so I suppose I'll have to trade it in on a Cayenne to get the bass, the amp, and the drummer to the gig.
I don't qualify either and even if I did and could afford it my wife would clobber me with the rolling pin.Way better than me.
On the bright side you don’t need to upgrade the bridge.
Looks like the article has them swapped. The one that looks like cedar is labeled roasted ash, and vice versa.
I love that! Congratulations! Beautiful color and a sleeper of a car. Subies rock!Like many others I can't understand how they can ask $9200 for a slab Pbass that looks no better than a home constructed Warmoth build where the owner doesn't have the paint spraying skills so does an oil finish. Sure, it might (and might not) have the most wonderful neck ever created, but I'm sure there are 100 other custom builders that will make a much better built bass for that money.
That works out to $15,175 in New Zealand dollars. I only paid $15,000 for my WRX with less than 40,000km on the clock a few years ago.

I'd ask him if I could (he was a client of mine back in the mid '80s).$12,000 & $9,200 US? ($16,000 & $12,400 CD + 13% tax = $18,100 & $14, 000) for a scrap wood bass?
"...am I on Candid Camera?!"
…or a pretty nice upright.Lordy. I'd rather have a Wal and some change.
Obviously there is a point. Was there a point to this post other than to vent your spleen? I mean, who cares what the Fender Custom Shop is charging for something you didn't have any interest in buying in the first place?
Wow, that looks incredible!Speaking of building fso's out of recycled wood, I actually just finished a p bass made from a huge slab of sapele that was once my friends old kitchen island. View attachment 5151647
