I did a gig opening for Bill Kirchen over a decade ago. He and his bassist both had instruments (Telecaster and SCPB) made from recovered urban wood. I think they were pine bodies and I'm sure they were a lot less than $10,000. It's not a new idea to do this.

Two basses in a gig bag, a Kemper in a rack, two guitar stands (the folding kind) and a brief case for incidentals all fit behind the front seats in a modern 911. If you must use an amp, an SWR Baby Blue combo fits nicely in the front trunk. This leaves plenty of room in the passenger seat for your wife or girlfriend (but not both
).
At this rate they should open up a Streetmeat Tacos food truck using roadkill, $100 bucks per taco.

I don't qualify either and even if I did and could afford it my wife would clobber me with the rolling pin.
Let’s face it. Anyone paying this much for either will probably insist on buying both to have the set.
Like many others I can't understand how they can ask $9200 for a slab Pbass that looks no better than a home constructed Warmoth build where the owner doesn't have the paint spraying skills so does an oil finish. Sure, it might (and might not) have the most wonderful neck ever created, but I'm sure there are 100 other custom builders that will make a much better built bass for that money.
That works out to $15,175 in New Zealand dollars. I only paid $15,000 for my WRX with less than 40,000km on the clock a few years ago.

At $12,000 you can probably calculate the actual cost of every note ever to be played on it...and the tone must sound RICH.

I'd ask him if I could (he was a client of mine back in the mid '80s).$12,000 & $9,200 US? ($16,000 & $12,400 CD + 13% tax = $18,100 & $14, 000) for a scrap wood bass?
