You can get a completely handmade bass from Bacchus Japan for under 2K. You'd think even with the Fender tax these could be 4k max.

The $12,000 has me on its one advantage over any other bass I’ve ever heard of:

I mean, they are definitely cool and I must admit I’d totally love to get a whiff of the $12K one.

Right - to me I heard "salvaged from wall paneling from a building that was being demolished" or something like that. The top one looks like it came from my dad's old house.

Frankly I have plenty of wood here - got all I wanted and more for much less:

I once made a huge longboard (skateboard) from the MDF/Veneer side of an IKEA dresser. It was a blast to ride, and surprisingly never gave way under the stress of flexing/rebounding during riding. Had I known that "streetwood" was so valuable, I would have sold it or made a bass with it. Oh well...

your paying for "one of a kind authentic fender."

you are not paying for a "12 thousand dollar instrument," in any meaningful way focused on the instrument.

no surprise here. i'm sure they're pretty cool basses and if they were appropriately priced around $1800 some of us would dig it.
