where did your band name come from?

at the time we were called "Viscera" pronounced "vicer-uh" but nobody could pronounce it at all.

we recently kicked out our singer and thought it would be a good time to come out as a new band, we tuned our instruments from drop a to drop c and changed our sound a lot.

We were at walmart looking through the $5 dollar dvd bin and found a western movie collection and was looking for potential song names. but instead i found our new band name "High Noon"

"World of Warcrack"...LOL!

The Vista Chix...all females, all from Lago Vista. We couldn't agree on a name, right up to the night of our first gig, so the venue owner named us.

The Knowbodys...We were playing this cool little dive venue, and an old bandmate said, "Only nobodies play there!" Well, we knew better than *that*! So...The Knowbodys.

Tommy Rebel & The Rockerfellas...His old band name from back East.

The Rolling Blackouts...Several years ago, Austin had its first experience with the phenomenon of rolling blackouts. Affected areas were in chaos for the duration. Hubby and I thought it would make a great band name, but didn't have a band to use it with at the time. When we and our jam leader put this cover project together, we decided to use it. People seem to really like the name.

I see stuff all the time and think, that would be a cool band name the other day it was "The Onceler" remember that from Dr. Suess
I also seen something about "cadaver dogs" and thought that would be a great name for a death metal band

I never have, but I've had friends who got so far into it that we didn't see them for a few months. Warcrack, indeed! :D

The Onceler...that's cool! You can't go wrong with a good Dr. Suess reference.

We came up with The Katusha Rockets, a couple of Israeli/Lebanese conflicts ago. But someone was already touring under it, so we couldn't use it.

I've often thought that Jonestown Koolaid would be a good name, since we're Jonestown locals, but too many people under the age of 30 don't get the reference.

My girlfriend has a dog with no eyes who gets around in the same fashion, slightly grazing this and that on its way to its destination.

My last band was called "the Human Machine". I just put the words together to title a piece of prose I wrote. I liked it and it stuck, later found it in a sex pistols song, and its also a book.

My new band, Ugly Ape, I came up with while suggesting bands names in one of the "name my band" threads, I liked it and told them they couldnt use it, because I was.

Our singer/guitar player (John) wanted to start 'Terraplane Blues' but a g00gle search showed that it has been used a couple times, including one band that was at one point on the D1sney payroll. We decided to avoid that law firm. :ninja:

I have always liked long names like 'Bachman Turner Overdrive,' Lewis and Clarke Expedition,' and 'Manhattan City Transfer.'

So I tossed a few names around and when I came up with 'Terraplane Blues and Taxi Service' John said immediatley that he loved it. (It was only whn creating a myspace page that I realized short names are more web friendly :hmm: :rolleyes: )

We were looking for a new name a while back. We were General Direction (reference to Monty Python and the fact that we had no real focus with our music we just had a general idea) .

We felt that we had moved on from that name so One day I was looking through my girlfriend's psychology books and i saw "Drive Theory"

so it was mentioned along with a bunch of other names and we liked it so it stuck.

Third world lover---one of the bAnd names given by Sarsipius on one of the Ifectious grooves albums.


Pinch n Roll----from the way guys itch there sack (yeah it's weird but I joined the band after they named it)

S.A.C.K.F.U.C.K.E.R.-----After watching the "devil in ms. jones" watch the final scene and you'll see

we were also going to use "Gravity" because we're getting old and gravity is starting to take effect.
then there was Cameltoe and the Mooseknuckles, my wifes the singer and 3 guys in the band LOL
