When he sings "your love" (is lifting me higher) - "Love" is on the 1.
thats kinda what I thought , so on the intro you would come in on then 3 & ?? or 3 ? I think its 3&

It sure does groove. Love how it pedals that one note while the chords change around it, and how well that works.
the bass is in between everything except the vox on the one it seems , feels like that anyhow

agree with kesslari. I count the bass as coming in on the "and" before 4. (So yeah, 3&, like you said).

And the drums come in on the "and" before 4 also.

That seems like counting in half time to me. In the same time you got to four, I'm at 8 (or 4 twice), and the bass comes in on the 2 of the second bar of the count in.
Listen to the drums. The snare is hitting on 2 and 4. The way you count it the snare is hitting on the and of every beat.

Yeah. You're right, I'm hearing those snare hits on the "ands." But when I hear it your way I hear it on the 2 and 4. I'm not sure which is correct but I hear what you're saying.
I tell you what, this one would turn ANYONE around the first few times that you heard it.
"There's the one ... no wait, it's ... uh ... oh jeez ..."

Now for the next rhythmic challenge, learn how to sing the backup vocals while you play the bass line....
I used to do that in a band a few years ago. Great song... Argument after argument over how to keep it all together.
