Though at the cheaper end, that new Epiphone Embassy bass has started speaking to me, somehow. Not my usual kind of thing, but something about it just works.

I just got my Embassy today. It's just a cool looking bass, but the price made me very skeptical.

I didn't much love it at first, but after a few hours it really started growing on me. I'll get new strings and a setup when I get back from the road. Worst case, I may swap the front pickup out, but haven't determined that just yet. It's a neat little bass

Looks way cool, as one who is fond of 60's and 70's looking stuff.

And from the demos I just saw sounds amazing as well.

A shame it doesn't come in a short scale version and I would seriously consider investing in one.

I'm really happy with my current 7 basses. They've all been chosen to cover every sonic ground that I need, but I'm planning to add 3 more to my colection. Just because 10 is a rounder number...
So, the next one that I'll be buying will be the Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro sunburst, probably in early 2018. Then, in the end of the year, I plan to buy the Fender Mustang JMJ. And in 2019, I'll get what I think wil be the bass to close my collection and that will be the Yamaha BB735 tsb.
And then my focus will turn to selling and buying pedals. Lots of pedals, with their shinny lights, and cool colours, and weird noises and...

A G&L Ash/Maple Precision style bass. TBD whether it'd be an LB-100 or an SB-1.
Leaning towards the SB-1 which sounds good from the few samples I could find, but I'm a tad worried about how it'd behave with the volume dimed. Will be checking it out at a shop in the next few weeks.

Should be quite a step up from my Ibanez SR300EL.

An Alembic Balance K with a combination of Series II and EMW electronics. Cocobolo top, Brazilian Rosewood back and headplate, fretless Macassar ebony fingerboard (no lines, of course, the only way to fly ), maple neck with CF stringers, nickel plated hardware, Hipshot Ultralite tuning keys.

I can't remember if I posted in this thread yet or not, but I have a Duff McKagan Precision bass on layaway that I got for $600 Canadian. I'm going to refinish the body in black gloss to match the neck and headstock and add a tortoise shell pickguard, and probably install a Chris Klein epic series 59' precision bass pickup to boot. I might get rid of the Jazz pick up in the bridge position, and route it for a Precision bass pickup because dual P bass pickup basses are the scheisse.

Once I feel I can part with around $2000 comfortably, I'm going to finally get around to commissioning a Clement fretless. Don't know when that will be, since I've got a lot of other stuff on my list that's going to have to take priority, and I might decide it's worth it to pick up a cheaper fretless between now and then. But I've been meaning to get one for years now, it's just never been in the cards.

But between the digital piano I'm getting for the new place I'm moving into, plus a cab upgrade, plus a guitar amp upgrade, plus a few pedals, plus that Prophet 12 I've been dying to own... Plus rent, student loans, other stuff... I'll manage.

I have one in the works. I wanted a compact bass that had a built amp and speaker to use for walking in hospitals from room to room with five other members of my ukulele group. I saw the Pignose PGB-200 short scale bass here on TB, but it was not small enough, so I decided to buy the PGG-200 22 inch scale travel guitar and convert it to a bass. When I finished, I found that the Pignose distortion could not be eliminated and would just not work for me.

I put it away, but it was nagging at me, so I decided to just use it as plugin bass since it could also be used that way. I yanked the speaker and amp and took it over to Eric's Guitar to make a new closed pickguard front and back and a full setup. Should be done shortly.
