I go with gig bags exclusively. They are more space-efficient, and a good one provides a substantial amount of protection for the instrument. I’m trying to make everything lighter, not heavier.

Those Bebensee basses are just so amazing. For shipping and gigs where protection is needed I use a Pelican case. For casual gigs I use a Mono keyboard case. Both are the same size so I can switch out the foam for whichever bass I take.

You are popular today. I've never seen one poster be in half of the what's hot list evar! Catchy thread titles and that black and orange avatar really work. For me, it depends on the instrument. My cheaper basses have a gig bag,....all my premium basses such as my Jaydees are housed in a Hiscox case or molded rectangular soft shells like a Road Runner case.
Hard shell for each instrument, one or two gig bags for casual playing out.
How bout this one! Which do you prefer…a corn cob, toilet paper or bidet?
