I would go woth the ATK or the Spector. The ATK will give you more of the Stingray tone. Great for RATM type stuff. Punchy! The Spector should offer you more versatility wiht the 2 PUs. I personally am more of an ATK guy.

I don't know anything about the SR600. But I do own an early SR506. And have owned an SR1200, SR1205F, and SR885 (Japan). All of these served me well. It's a matter of playability, sound and look in that order for me. If it sounds as good as the SR506, I'd go with it. Plus I do LOVE that natural wood look. But that's IMO. Hope that helps. If I were you, playing metal and taking lessons I would go with the Ibanez. The difference is, and I know this is outside the scope of your original post, I would go with the SR605. The low B is a great thing...especially playing metal. I played one a couple of months ago, and it was really nice.
You could also, again with the suggestions outside of your list, what I consider to be the best bass for the buck- the Peavey Cirrus BXP.

I'd get the Ray34. I played a couple this weekend in Guitar Center and they were fabulous. Import or not, I honestly couldn't really tell a difference between US and Korean. And I'm anal.
+1 Also played a ray34 at GC over the weekend. Great tone, 100% stingray. Of all the choicest you listed, that's what I'd get.
The ATK can do a good stingray tone if you fool with the EQ some, but I was never able to get comfortable with the neck profile of my ATK.
I dig Ibanez basses, but the SRs just don't have as much "personality" as a stingray. Clean tone, but bland.
Don't know about Schecter (or spector), no experience there.
Personally, i'd pick the ibanez ATK for metal out of those choices. Really solid sounding bass, really gritty sounding. None of ibanez "sr" line impressed me whatsoever, nothing against 'em, but they just don't sound or play as good as the price tag. The spector will probably be a more versatile bass than the ibanez, but i've never really cared much for them considering the price. Honestly i'd recommend a used fender. Tim commerford from rage, and many others in rock, use fender jazz basses and they always sound great and are pretty easy to play, and one can usually find them for a good price.
I think in your price range, any of the options you listed will suit your goals adequately.

1. Buy used if you can. You'll get more for your dollar.

Out of those listed, and since you want versatile tone the Spector would be my first choice. The SR600 would be second. If I were to get a single pickup bass I would prefer to have the pickup closer to the neck than any of these choices. P-bass would would be ok..
The SR sreies are a tried and true bunch of basses. I've sold HUNDREDS of them. BUT, the tone is just a little "polite" for what you are looking. Although it's a really nice bass for the money, it would be last on my list because of your tone requirements.
