Which Bass would you get (be honest)?

I have an ATK 3EX (GC's version of the 300) and I love it...it plays GREAT, sounds GREAT.

I also just saw on the classifieds an Ibanex RDGR something or other with a MM and a Jazz p'up...damn thing was HOT. I don't know anything about it, but if I had the money...

The SR sreies are a tried and true bunch of basses. I've sold HUNDREDS of them. BUT, the tone is just a little "polite" for what you are looking. Although it's a really nice bass for the money, it would be last on my list because of your tone requirements.

What kinda tone do you get out of em, I mean they have those dual Bartolini pickups..

I'm personally a much bigger fan of Spectors than Ibanez but that's me.

I'd go with the Spector. People under rate that specific Spector, but it's actually really nice.

Spector, most definitely. And to answer your question, the EMG-HZ pickups are US-made but passive pickups as opposed to Active. It's not a bad thing - I happen to prefer the "cleaner" tone of the HZs like Mike Kroger of Nickleback, who has HZs wired straight to the output (no preamp) of his $5-6,000 USA Custom Spectors as opposed to using active pickups or even a preamp. In his words, "I prefer the sound of the wood straight to my amps"*.

*Not his actual words, but the general idea's spot-on and I'm running out to dinner and don't have time to find the exact quote...

Sterling Ray34 (name is confusing) , they seem to be well made and sound pretty close to the USA models.

Ibanez SR500 or up all have a Bartolini setup, but my SR400 & SR405 have some thunderous lows - nice bright highs too with stylesweep midrange.

The SR4 series has nice narrow - thin necks i.e. 38mm nut x 19.5 thickness with 19mm string spacing.
