Good googly! I have to ask, what is the purpose of the upper horn going all the way to the headstock like that? Is it a functional design decision, or a purely artistic one?

Mostly artistic, but the hollow-shell monocoque construction they use opens up a lot of new questions about how to get the best stability, stiffness, resonance, etc; so there is room for functional considerations too.

Man there are some pretty basses shown in this thread.

Have had discussions in other threads about horn length and balance. I hear you.

Discovered my kid's Ibanez balances more to the right than my Precision Lyte, bringing the nut closer and within easier reach.

I wouldn't rule out basses without actually trying them on in the store as you might be pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised.

The the upper horn of the Warwick Dolphin reaches the 15th fret!!!!

The question is if there is any bass with a upper horn longer than the usual point around the 12th or 11th fret!!!!!!

I've been searching any bass with that longer upper horn since a couple of years and the only i've found are this white Conklin here:

And of course, the Basslab Basses... hoho

You should all realize that the most part of the basses on the market are not ergonomical at all... yeah.. neck dives in almost every bass i have tried...
The designs are obsolete and most part of bass players are stupid because they're still buying a bassguitar just because it has flamed top or beautiful this and that... and my bass body with its curves is sooo sexy... ooouuuhhh my vintage unconfortable bass with a ****** vintage rotten pickup sound so cool!!!!
