which cable?

I have used many, and built many of my own, but the main one I have used for the last 25 years is a Pro Co Excellines. Lifetime warranty, quality components, various lengths and plug options and can be purchased for a reasonable price.

I think Rapco, ProCo....the brands you see at the local Sam Ash or GC are fine if it's for playing live and the cable is a reasonable length....say up to about 12 to 15 feet or so. Might make more of a difference in a studio setting but you may have an advantage in a studio to use shorter cables so maybe not a problem there either. If you're really set on getting more expensive cables, I've always had great experience with Lava cables. They go on sale periodically so you might check it out.

To me... a cable is a cable. Ive had everything from cheapo 3 dollar cables to monster cables for bass and cables with flexible aluminum conduit wrapping.

My ears cannot tell a difference, but my eyes and my wallet can. So i just grab whatever i can afford at the time that catches my eye.

If i start having trouble with one i either grab my soldering iron or just go buy another one if im lazy that day. A person can really overthink this stuff.

I like the planet waves circuit breakers, ordered a few more - I wonder what folks don't like about them? I haven't had one long enough to have an opinion on how well they last.

I detest them because I want a cable to pass my signal through. ALL the time.

It's too vague... is my tuner battery dead? is the power not on?... oh wait the cable isn't switched on! It's a solution to a problem that never existed.

I prefer cables with the heat shrink over the ends, no worries about it unscrewing on me.

I have an angled Planet Waves Classic; I like it a lot. I also use one of the Reverb $9 20' braided instrument cables, it works great too. I don't see the benefits of expensive cables. Just throwing money away, IMO/IME.

All this cable nonsense... I've had the same Monster Bass 500 21 foot straight/right angle since 1994.

Say what you will about them, it's has outlasted a cat that chewed it and several tours.

Same here. I've got cables from several manufacturers, but I've been using the same 2 or 3 Monster cables since 1999---and they still work.

Monster is well -known for its poor reliability. That's why so many people brag about having taken advantage of the company's exchange policy. Who's really being taken advantage of given their pricing and totally BS claims? Bass cable?! :smug::rollno::banghead: What good does their exchange policy do when a cable fails on a gig?

Only Monster cable I've had - a speaker cable - failed with very little use. Extremely poor construction, despite the artifice of being solid.
