I like the George L cables. They seem rugged, although I don't gig them. The only thing I don't like is that they have a lot of memory & are sort of stiff.

Is someone using Dominator cables?
I tried one in Anderson, South Caroline, in 2008... I using same cable until today, best low frequencies ever!!!

I've had 3 Monster cables fail on me. There is no strain relief at all on the ends. One with an angled end failed the first time I plugged it in. A friend of my does the backline for the Monterey Jazz Festival, when I told him that he said they stay away from Monster. He has had good luck with Mogami JimMonster is well -known for its poor reliability. That's why so many people brag about having taken advantage of the company's exchange policy. Who's really being taken advantage of given their pricing and totally BS claims? Bass cable?!What good does their exchange policy do when a cable fails on a gig?
Only Monster cable I've had - a speaker cable - failed with very little use. Extremely poor construction, despite the artifice of being solid.
I've had a Pro Co Excalibur with the huge solid chrome ends for about the same amount of time. Jim
Just for fun Google the phrase 'monster cable frivolous lawsuit'. You'll be busy for a while.
And that rumor that some of their cable ends are oversize? It's not a rumor. I have a few Monster Cables that were purchased prior to me learning what kind of company they really are. Speaker cables and interconnects with 1/4" ends that insert with noticeable difficulty. So much difficulty that you're afraid the input jack is going to suffer damage. Such oversize ends render an otherwise serviceable cable as pretty much useless.

A lot of people here believe in Monster, a lot not believes...
I use a Dominator cable and one Monster cable about 8 years with same both cables.
I really cannot understand why some guys are too against Monster cables.

Do you know why some cables has one side identified as Amp and another as Guitar?

id imagine because one side is intended for the instrument one one sides intended for the amp. for best sound or something.
Well one thing is certain.
If you spend a lot of money on a super duper premium ultra royal gold plated cable and afterwards you discover your playing sounds like crap...
You can be absolutely certain that it's not because of a poor quality cable.

Monster Cables are a total waste of money.

Me, I buy something decent on sale. As a radio/TV guy of 40 years, I know cables are cables provided they are of adequate quality and have good connectors.
I also NEVER bunch up or cram cables into bags or boxes. Every cable gets coiled correctly with the right technique, every time it's used.

I teach cable coiling with the same approach this gent uses in his #1 demo. After a bit of practice, you can do the same thing by just rolling the cable between your fingers and you can get very fast at coiling cables properly. I'm not a fan of technique #2.
Every cable has a velcro cable tie, and every cable gets properly coiled and secured with a velcro tie every time I use it. No exceptions, no deviation. That's what 40 years of practice does for you, and that's behaving like a professional. It also keeps your cables from getting damaged.
Then don't walk on them, and try not to pull directly against the connectors. They'll last a long time.

Just left GC... first time I've been there in a while, but just got their Memorial Day cable special: buy one 18.5 ft Musicians Gear cable for $15.99, get 2 free :0 Can't beat the deal. Hopefully they're decent. Cloth covered.
Really? I may head that way. Can always use a couple of cables. I wouldn't want a cable longer than that, as all my basses are passive.
In the grand scheme of things cables just don't matter.
So long as one end fits in the bass, and the other fits in the amp, with a acceptable distance between the ends, and it doesn't crackle or cost a bloody fortune, then you are golden.
Never buy overpriced 'premium' cables. They are just as likely to fail as the next. Will provide little to no benefit. Use the money you save to buy a spare set of strings. That will have more effect on your tone that any cable.
Avoid cables with a switch on them like the plague. One extra thing to fail and frustrate on stage.
Buy whatever is cheap or use whatever you 'acquire/liberate' from a gig. If super-cheap buy a spare so you have a backup plan.
Be careful how you coil your cable. Never wrap a cable. You will knacker it ahead of it's time. Always turn it gently, removing twists as you loosely coil it up. Never kink or tie your cable. I tend to use a Velcro cable tidy before placing it into my case.

2 of my 3 are passive too. They may have some different deals too, but that's the one I saw.
