As a side question...how do you guys and gals learn soo many songs in such a short time? I have a heard enough time learning 5 or 6 over a couple of months. No family life is crazy so I don't get much me time, so I'm sure that doesn't help.

I tried that this session and I think that is the only way I'm coping with the Zepplin songs. Still can't learn multiple songs in a day though. Maybe multiple sections.....guess its a start.

I don’t do covers other than the ocasional one my band reinterprets. However, just learned this earlier this week. Easy.... until you realize you have to stay on it for 16 minutes.



This band from Chile smashes it too!

"Rio" with it's punch, ghost notes and drive just rocks. Though I am not a fan of Peruvian Marching Powder, Taylor is in the preverbial pocket like a champ, and IMO carries the song with Roger killin' the kit. Definitely gets the fingers a movin'.
"Holiday in Cambodia" because of it's pure punk rockness. Blammo, here it is. Klaus never over plays, and is also killin' it...even though he's a recovering guitarist
"Aenema" because of it's weird timings, the depth of the drop, hammer-ons...it's just cool.

The last one I learned is Lay it down by Ratt
The one I like playing the most is Sober by Tool. This song challenged me in so many ways. I had to learn how to strum chords on all 4 strings, play a ghost note "chord", play a chord and ghost notes at the same time, play without support of a guitar for 20 seconds or so and play a rather fast section, include a chord slide! So rewarding to get this to sound good. Note - this is not me in the Tool video, just what I used to learn it from.

Favourite? Tough call. Probably War Pigs. I love the changes and I never play the middle solo section the same way twice. And I just have fun playing it.

Learned last: Robert Earl Keen's "Armadillo Jackal", for a gig

Favorite to play: Santana's "Smooth", I just really like the line. Plus, it uses all four strings midway up the neck, so it's good for trying out a new bass.
