Which mic will do well for both of these?

Hi,

I'm looking to get two mics that will work well in both of these situations:

1) Stereo pair for live recording (gig at a bar)
2) Overhead drum mics for studio recording

I have a budget - would like to get it done for under $250. I have a stereo condensor mic, Audio Technica Pro 24 XY, and I would like to get better sound than that can capture and also have standard XLR connectors. I'm happy to get mics that require phantom power.

Thanks much.

Hi, SlimT.

I have used a pair of Pearl CR-57 "elephant *****" for both of those situations.

Condensers that can be run with phantom power as well as with standard 9V battery. Should be relatively cheap in e-bay, I have a feeling that it's been a while since these were been sold as new.

Regards
Sam
