Which one should I sell?

Need some opinions here. I need to raise some Holiday cash and I'm also wanting to downsize just a little bit so I am going to sell one of my basses -- I just can't figure out which one.

My gig is Urban Gospel and also Gospel Quartet. Most of it is live but there is some studio work from time to time. Here are some examples:

(These aren't me but these are songs that my ensembles play.)


The three basses are:

* Valenti Jazz:
This bass has EMG-J pickups and an East U-Retro. The preamp makes it crazy versatile and it even has a true active/passive switch with passive tone roll-off. This thing really is a go-anywhere/do anything kind of axe.

* Fender American Deluxe Precision V:
I absolutely love this bass. It looks right and feels right and it sounds like a P-Bass on steroids. I'd hate to get rid of it because they are so hard to come by and I love playing it. I believe those people that say that this is one of the best Fivers that Fender ever made. (The purist in me will confess to wanting to own at least one Fender "Just Because.")

* Peavey Cirrus V:
I love the feel of this bass -- compared to the others, it feels like a sleek sports car. Insanely low action and super modern tone. It is so playable and far more versatile than people give it credit for. (If you solo the P pickup, it does a GREAT approximation of a P-bass.)


Now, I realize that it's ultimately my decision but I'd really like some thoughts/opinions on which one of these beauties I need to put on the block.

In this economy, it could be hard to sell period. So I would put all three in the classifieds and see which goes first. JMO

If it really doesn't matter to you, I would agree with this...but I'd like to point out that you used the word love in the description of 2 out of 3.

Honestly, I think whichever one you sell you'll likely regret it. I would sell the Peavy because it seems the least versatile, & the one you seem least passionate about. As you said, in the end, the decision is yours.

Having sold 4 of my original 6 basses, I really only regret selling two of them, (a Fender American Deluxe Jazz fretless, & a Takaminie Jasmine acoustic).

The Fender probably has the best resale value. Just make sure to keep that Cirrus.

If I were in your position I would sell the Peavey for one simple reason.....

You won't have a hard time finding another one just like it if/when you decide that's what you want to do. The other two will be extremely difficult to replace.

I sold a Music Man Sabre after owning it for 20 years. The new basses I had acquired at that time covered everything I needed to do, so it was expendable.

Except, after spending many thousands of dollars on basses over the next 10 years, I decided I'd kinda like to have a nice Sabre in my portfolio. Took me over a year to find one in reasonable condition for a reasonable price (ironically, I found two and bought 'em both).
