Yep. Another one of these. Just throwin' it out there. I like tortise shell, black on black is o.k. too. But, I am thinking that 'minty' looking color for the Precision V.

None of those pearly guards though. They ain't my thing.

Also, is pickguards.com still an o.k. maker for these or is there another maker that's risen to the top?

As always, I appreciate your help & opinions.

Some pics...'cause pics are fun!

Have I ever posted that I love this bass?

Here's one option:

Regarding "pickguards.com" - I wouldn't recommend them at all - here's a PG they made for the same bass:

Pickguard Heaven and Terrapin are both better companies...

- georgestrings

On black/maple, absolutely tort. Or aged parchment.
A black pg looks fine, but better with a rw fingerboard. Abalone is a little kinky, pearloid grey or deep blue would be kinkier.
Or something very extravagant, like a union jack flag, or a devil's face, or a 50's pinup... but not if you play mainstream jazz or in a church.

I'm a tort guy so I have to throw that out there, though I agree that might work better with a rosewood fingerboard. I also like your idea of going mint.

Some other options I think would look great on it are 3-ply black (B/W/B), parchment, and abalone. Gold anodized might work too, but I think that would work better on a burst and maybe an aged white rather than on black.

For THAT bass? I would go with either a black/white/black guard, or an anodized gold or some facsimilie thereof. Those are classic looks that work with a maple board and a black body. I like tort with black, but I think it looks better when you have a rosewood fingerboard.

Oh, and BTW, I have a Fender Am Std Precision 5 (3TSB & tort), and I agree: it's pretty awesome!
