Which wireless? (Shure/Line 6/Boss)

Which would you recommend?-based on your experience

I think it's best to try some brands in the venues you'll be in and see which ones work the best for you.
Maybe even rent them for a month or two to try.

2.4ghz can be busy

2.4ghz band has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Automation, Advertising channels, ... and microwaves. All mixed in and sharing. Wi-Fi big wide pink bands, bluetooth the narrow bands and they can hop around hunting for best response.

They are all suppose to watch out for each other, but it kind of depends on who's the "Loudest"
Just like stage volume. You may grab a frequency but if someone louder comes along you may get masked.
I see some directional add on antennas from their parties being sold but they may be snake oil.

It is surprising how well 2.4ghz wireless all works as most won't have a problem. For long term I'd expect the licensed frequencies to be better managed. They would be government controlled licensing, so maybe not.

I did quite a bit of research on this and decided that the Shure unit was probably the best choice for my needs. However, I ended up buying an inexpensive plug and play system because a) I didn't want a body pack, and b) for the work I do, the additional expense didn't seem worth it.

The smaller system I bought does work with all of my active basses, which was an unfounded worry. If i had to traverse longer distances with my bass, I would spring for the Shure because latency is a problem across distances with these smaller systems. Hope this helps.

I have been having gigs since mid June already… It's helpful that we usualy play small/medium venues..so we were able to fit under the limits for bigger crowds...
My issue (TX, USA) is most "gigs" outside of private parties are in bars/clubs (regardless of size), which have been shut down since mid-June. Restaurants, limited to 50% capacity, are the only places doing live music right now, and on my bands "A" circuit we have been on for 6+ yrs.. that's TWO venues! Being a 5-piece band, we can't do small venues anyway... but things look to be getting better.
Our last gigs were July 1-3 and that major venue that hosts national acts (still open as it's labeled a restaurant) only books us 4-5 times year!
Hopefully we'll get some more bookings Sept on!

That's more of a limitation than it is a feature.
One brand does not have an exclusive on any of the channels.
I meant available geographically, the UHF channels available vary by country, the freq band of your unit may not be legal in another country. And since they're using TV channels, even travelling just around the US can be problematic if it doesn't have a wide tuning range. 2.4Ghz would be legal everywhere, although it will run into the same issues everywhere, too, competition with bluetooth, Wi-Fi, microwaves, etc.

It's less likely than UHF, though, they just got done stealing 600Mhz from wireless mic users... Isn't there some international agreements involved, for WiFi usage, ISM, or Blutooth that protects it somewhat for wireless mic users from FCC reassigning that band for another use?

GLXD has some great features, rechargeable battery for the transmitter, 2.4Ghz is available everywhere. Great sound quality. The only problem would be if you needed to run more than 4 GLXD units simultaneously, Line 6 units offer more simultaneous users in the 2.4Ghz band.

I picked up a GLXD setup almost a year ago because we were playing on a larger stage and I wanted more freedom. I originally wanted to get the Sennheiser system but our local GC didn't have it. Honestly, I've been pretty impressed with the Shure. No drop outs, no connection issues.

Our band had good luck using 3 GLXD simultaneously, along with an AT unit and my Line 6 all on 2.4GHz, the only trouble we had was when one of the GLXDs accidentally wasn't set to group 2 (the multi-user group). The GLXDs had some dropout issues at that point, but only because we them configured wrong so they interfered with each other. Once we figured that out, it went back to being bulletproof even with multiple GLXD (compatible) units, along with 2 other brands that were not designed to be compatible with each other. Kind of surprised it all worked together.

I was using my iPad for monitor mixing, and that would have an issue sometimes losing the WiFi connectivity, so I ended up getting a QLXD UHF model to replace my Line 6 2.4Ghz wireless to keep my immediate area free from 2.4GHz interference, and the iPad stopped having issues.

The solution to this issue is to have a dual-band router on stage and use the 5Ghz band for monitor mixing. Keeps you off the 2.4. It's what we do for IEM and monitor mixes, keeping them totally separate from FOH when House provided! ZERO issues with dropouts or range even on large stages!
