Who finds black basses boring?

I own to many black basses. I sold my old Tobias 5er, but I still have a black MM SUB and a black Roasted Stingray.
I reached a point in my life where all my clothes were black, my car was black, my furniture and bedsheets are black. One morning I got up and realized, "where are my keys?!".

No way. Black is classy, even if it shows fingerprints and such. Especially with chrome hardware. Polish it up and nothing looks better to me.

I have a '72 Black & Rosewood. It has the original grey-bottom pups and it is a "rare" lightweight. I love the sound and feel but I rarely take it to gigs because it is so uninteresting-looking. Love the bass though and use it for practice quite a bit. I do take it to outside gigs where the lighting is good. Inside a dark bar though it is almost invisible with the rosewood neck and black pickguard. Funny but sad.

Black isn't boring, but I do wish manufacturers would release basses (and guitars) with more variety. Seems to always be black and sunburst with red and white not too far behind. Blue, green, and pink seem to be godsends and anything in metallic/pearloid finishes are rare. Even rarer are off-the-beaten-path colors like teal, orange, purple, or yellow. Again, as everyone has said, color should be the last thing on the list, but it's nice to have a cool color to go with a bass that suits you - then again, refinishing it is always an option.

Plain black would be OK... but pearloid seafoam green? Oh, hell yes! Much better than black.

The only black bass I really like would be a 5 string Fender Jazz with maple board and mint PG...something about that particular bass just looks great. Aside from that, I just see them as fingerprint magnets, so I stay way. Don't want to spend more time cleaning my bass then playing it.

At one time I had a black Strat, black 4 string and 5 string SX jazz basses. I don't own any dark colored guitars or basses anymore. Never will again.
