Anyway, I'm pretty sure the musicians that recorded Apache knew exactly what they were doing. It is a Wrecking Crew track and it is considered by many as the track that, more than any other, inspired sampling, looping and turntable scratching. That drum solo initiated and sparked an entire cultural movement.
Whatever your opinion of hip-hop music, you can't write it off as unimportant simply because it doesn't speak to you personally. (I mean, you certainly "can", but that would make your behavior the very definition of short-sighted and self-centered.)
