5 string is my bass voice as well. I have tried to play a 6 as a diversion into other things, and I may try again someday, but I end up leaving it in favor of my 5 strings.

I don't know how to play a 4-string.. coming from guitar, I went to 5.. never looked back. Still jonesing for a 6-string, and that will be the next purchase later this year...

I rarely play below the 5th fret, and use the G string a lot. But I don't play Meringue or Salsa. I do love a good Bossa though.

Not only do I use my G string, but I've been thinking about picking up a 5'er and stringing it EADGC.

Me. I tuned my 4 banger t BEAD as well and for the first few weeks I was loving it, but after that, I quickly missed the G string... Playing anything melodic just dosn't work or sound as good. Jaco, Paul McCartney, some Tool, a lot of Jazz, requires a G string... Now I'm saving up for a 6'er!
