who only uses 1 pedal?

I use a Zoom B1on or a Vox StompLab 1B depending on my mood - they pretty much do the same things for me:
1) Tuner - both have OK tuners.
2) OD (for when my amp doesn't have one)
3) Comp (instead of OD on occasion)
4) Pitch Shift (see below)

The last one I use because I tune my shortscale DGCF and a couple songs are easier to play in EADG, and one band tunes down a half step so I just use the shift for that too to get DbGbCbFb or EbAbDbGb .

other than a tuner, who only has one effect pedal on your "pedal board"?
Right now, I just have a electro harmonix big muff pedal and nothing else. Not the greatest since it's meant for guitar, but a cool thing to experiment with. I got it after listening to Cliff Burton's use of wah and distortion on Metallica's first three albums. If I can save up for a fuzz wah or a bass distortion pedal, I'd replace it with one of those.

To me, the foot pedal is the most addictive piece of gear a bassplayer can own. It can be affordable, any sound you want and can be fun for days if not longer for tone geeks that's got to have that special sound. As for me I really tried hard not to be a victim but the more I listen to different styles of music the more I tried to duplicate that sound. I am losing the fight. I started out with a compressor, then preamp/eq/di,now a octaver on order-I CAN'T STOP! Hey maybe I'm a tone geek too in disguise. I' am ate-up with that dreaded disease call G.A.S.BTW-I have never met a player with (1) pedal that didn't want another one (yet).

I sometimes will bare bones it and just use my Sansamp bddi and rack compressor (not cheating) and that does the trick. And that's using no preamp. Straight into a solid state QSC. Super light and simple with one cab too.

In my effects mode that bddi channel is always on anyway, so it's just the occassional overlay of dirt or chorus or synth or whatever I need. 3ch pparallel looper rocks.

Just like I said in post #4. I'll bet that's a bad boy to.
I found it secondhand, having had no hardware bass effects prior, nor any experience with phrase looping. It's a pretty ridiculous good time. Working on some "Maggot Brain" tonight, loop in the arpeggios and some bass, then hit the octave up + distortion and go to town.:bassist:
