Who owns a 15" and why do you use em?

I think that's just crazy talk. The divisibility of the speaker has nothing to do with its performance. The reason 10"s and 15"s caught on with bass is because of the B-15 and the SVT. Had a 12" cab caught on like those two, then they would be more of a standard. But I love my little combo with the 12" in it.

How about a cab with a 15" and a 10" in it, run the 10 full range and roll of the 15 a bit so it doesn't step on the 10. Also with the option to bi-amp it.

IMO, that would be a nice cab to own.

Sounds like an interesting idea as the Invalid Link Removed tend to crossover to the various speakers. Imagine most would if anything go for the reverse -- a full-range 15 and a 10 for the top end.

I like the 15s because they do get good thump and are smaller than 18s. For many years I played through a Sunn Coliseum with 2 18s. THe problem with sucjh a setup was not so much that I didn't have enough top end, it was more that the sound blew past me and was louder out in the audience than on stage. I.e., I couldn't hear myself while blowing everyone away with the sheer volume. I now use a 15 plus 2x10 set up for outdoor gigs and a 2x12 set up indoors.

Big Rock player, but I love the sound of 15s, well happy I am with my NV215. Although as soon as I can I'm getting a 2x10 on top of it, hopefully with another cool 6 inch tweeter.

Always liked them generally when I used them before owning any, but Klaus Fluoride from Dead Kennedys inspired me the most to get a 2x15.

I get most of my tone from 15s. I don't have a 15 fetish, there are plenty of great speakers of different sizes. That said, the EVM 15L is one of my favorite speakers, perfect 4 string rock n roll tone. I have one in a 1X15 for when all I need is a small cab; my current "big rig" uses a Sunn 415M for the highs and mids and 2 Bag End D12E cabinets for the lows.

I run the Ampeg SVT-3 Pro through an Ampeg SVT 4x10 and an SVT 1x15 and I love it. The SVT-3 gives me the tone and punch I want, the Ampeg 4x10 gives me the growling top register and the Ampeg 1x15 brings the chest resonating bottom end that gives even the highest notes a clear (not muddy) low end.

If you dont have a 15 in your rig I suggest you pick one up, you wont regret it.

I love 15" speakers for both guitar and bass, but recently 12" speakers have snuck into my stable in the form of a pair of Genz-Benz NeoX212T's. My Bag End S-15D's give me a wonderful old school tone and are easy to move around. Sometimes I bring just one but usually use the two of them together. I also have an Ampeg B-15R/15E. It sounds pretty good and the extension speaker makes all of the difference. The "Tone King" is my '67 Ampeg B-15-N, but you guys know about those.......

Put my Eden rig together on the cheap, and ended up with a 1x15" and 2x10" cab just because that was what was available.

Couldn't have worked out better. Seems that there's lot of love for that particular combination, and I often get good comments on my tone.

A few months ago I had a gig where the backline was provided, but I didn't know what was there. Dragged my cabs to the gig just to find the identical twins already in place.
