Who played Rickenbackers with flatwounds?

How about this one: Roger Glover, Deep Purple, Machine Head,

Yeah, came her to say this.

Not flats. Rotosound round wounds according to Glover himself on his site.
Hmmmmm, I'm not convinced. JPJ says (in the past 20 years) that he used rounds on his jazz BITD, which is clearly not accurate. I'll refer all to his Guitar Player 1977 interview to back my claim. I wonder is Glover is also suffering from clouded memory. Based on the isolated tracks from Machine Head I have heard, and comparing them with how MY Ric sounds both with rounds, and with flats, I think it was flats.

Ok.

Thread Drift: Do you remember what tune(s) on the Relayer tour Chris Squire used an 8-string bass for?
I'm guessing "Roundabout" since that was the tune he played the Ranney 8-string on when I saw them in '79 ...but I'm wondering if there are other pre-"Going For The One" tunes where he used that bass?
Hmm, that was so long ago. But when I saw them in '13 they didn't do anything from Relayer. They performed three complete albums, in correct song sequence: Close to the Edge, Going for the One, and The Yes Album, plus the obligatory "Roundabout". I'm pretty sure Chris played the Ranney on one of the songs from GFTO but I don't remember which. Chris did play the Wal triple-neck copy on "Awaken". :)

If I had a Rickenbacker, I would play flats on it. If anyone's feeling generous, I'll take a 4004 L... 😄
Sorry, all I got are Cheyennes. 😜
The Ci has TI Jazz Flats on, though!
