Who would do this to a poor Lakland?

Who would pay the asking $999 as an opening bid?

Me, I would! Everybody seems to be forgetting this is a $3900 bass, when new. Who's to say it still don't play like one? If it plays that way, I'd pay that price, and run like hell before they changed their mind.

Who cares about looking prim & proper. It's all about gettin' a screamin' deal on a hi-dollar bass.

It "was" a $3,900 bass. Now it's.. I don't even know, but it's sure not a $999 bass. But don't let me stop you from buying it. Let us all know how it plays. ;)

Meh. Don't get so emotional. It is just a hunk of wood, a little bit of metal, and some wire. It's not the Holy Grail. It's not as though the world has lost one of the great art and engineering accomplishments of our time. It is a bass that got trashed. So what. Can somebody explain what the big deal is?

I feel the same. A bass is a piece of equipment. If it breaks, you can buy a new one. In many instances, you can buy one that is exactly the same.

The pickup routing makes me start to think. It's labeled as a US but there is no route to for emg's. Even if you had it done, the bridge route is already wider than an emg. Maybe it's a Skyline body (55-01) with a beat up US neck on it. Idk...

the US 55 neck and a 55-01 body was my first thought, but someone drew my attention to:
- there's no separate battery compartment one would expect to see on a 01;
- if it were a 01 then why would it have a Lakland-positioned coil switch

Well, I think I can speak for about 99.9% of those following this thread and say that you will not be in a bidding war from us. Go for it!!!!
