Who would do this to a poor Lakland?

the US 55 neck and a 55-01 body was my first thought, but someone drew my attention to:
- there's no separate battery compartment one would expect to see on a 01;
- if it were a 01 then why would it have a Lakland-positioned coil switch

Very true. Maybe it was originally a 55-??, the one that came with jazz pickups that they quit making a few years ago.

Possibly a home made body??:confused:

This isn't a result of "hard playing". This is vandalism -

Krist Novoselic will tell you how to achieve this look. By throwing your bass into the drumkit headstock first.

What a mess. Why would anyone F-up such a nice and expensive instrument? Man, if someone gave it to me, I'd have trouble figuring out how to make it right. Does Lakland sell just necks?

For Pete's sake, like my old man said, "If you can't take care if it, you don't deserve to have it." Wise man, my father.

I love his description. Master of understatement. "Blemishes and dings.." Heh heh.

Other than that, who cares what he did to his bass, it is his. Not everybody in the world wears Hawaiian shirts and plays contemporary jazz. He rocked the he((s outa that thing.

The price is ridiculous though. He used at least 3500 bucks of that bass' value up.

It looks that a grenade blew up on it. Sad how people don't take care of stuff like this, sure you have to expect a ding or scratch here and there over time and accidents do happen but blatantly you can tell that baby was abused. Sad indeed. Will be a hell of a restore but if done right it can be a great bass once again. I dug the original color, don't care much for silver myself.
