Bass: Rickenbacker (4001, 4003) and Fender (American Precision and American Precision V 5 string)
Amp Head: Ampeg SVT-2, SVT-4, or SVT-CL
Amp Cab: Ampeg SVT-810
FX: Ampeg SVP-BSP but probably wouldn't use it
Strings: Rotosound (would try all of them)
Accesories: Finale 2012....lol

I'll play, since it's complete fantasy.

Basses: G&L and Sadowsky (or Fender, Modulus, EBMM, Spector, Warwick, etc.)
Amp: GK (or GB, Mesa, Ampeg)
Cab: Aguilar (or Bag End, Ampeg)
Effects: Source Audio, Wren & Cuff, Dunlop
Strings: DR
Accessories: Dunlop, Hipshot

I'd be perfectly happy with just a string endorsement right now, it's the biggest recurring cost that I have. I am actually going to try to get one once the spring rolls around. Realistically, I don't think I'll get one but I'm going to try.

The only companies that outlined what they expected of me were Warwick and Levy's Leather Gigbags and Straps. Aside from the obvious that they want you to use their product (in WW's case, exclusively), at my level it's keeping them all informed and abreast of what I'm doing, where my gear is at, etc.. Posting on FB about the gear I use is encouraged, as well as putting their logos on websites. Talking about your gear at gigs is another understood one, but then again, we all love talking about gear, right?

WW wanted pictures of you playing the bass you got, so there was the cost of having professional shots taken. As far as I was concerned, this was not a place to have a friend or someone who's got a "knack for good pictures" that them; I went to a professional photographer.

I shoot them a quarterly email (I send it to everyone I endorse; they like it) explaining what gigs I've been on, where I'm headed in the next quarter and anything else interesting they may find useful and/or fun. I shoot them the link to my monthly articles in Bass Musician Magazine (which a lot of them put on their sites), and if anything really cool happens, I let them know.

Bass Endorsements: Probably Ibanez & Cort, just love em, I swear they can't be beaten. I'd use the Ibanez BTB700DX, in transparent grey, as it looks & feels damn sexy, & a Cort Curbow, as nothing else I've played feels so fluid and natural to me.

Head wise: Orange. End of.
Cab: Harley Benton. Love 'em.

Effects: Electro-Harmonix, 'cos their effects constntly surprise me.
Boss, because no-one has such a wide range of quality effects, & Source Audio for goddamned kickass.

Strings? Dunlop. The feel and sound are more me than anything else.

Freebies? Definitely a 'Levy's' strap, and possibly a Hipshot.

Generally, if you have an endorsement from one bass manufacturer it is difficult to get one from another.
I currently have a deal with Spector and with Curt Mangan Strings.
10 years ago, I had one with Ampeg but gave it up for GK. Went back to Ampeg several years ago but can't get them to do a deal. I was offered a deal with EBS a couple of years ago.
I don't use effects.
Accessories, I would choose cables.

The artist endorses the company's products, the company is not endorsing the artist.




I have several good friends with drum company/cymbal endorsement deals. A few of them have higher level deals where they get free gear. A few others have deals where they get equipment at reduced prices.

I've never liked the fact that they are restricted to the company's products. I like having the option to play anyone's gear that I want. My seven drum sets are from four different companies. My 26 snare drums are from ten different companies. My over eighty cymbals are from four different companies. Hand percussion gear, I don't even have a guess as to who makes all of it. So far I'm all over the map with bass gear.

Two exceptions. All of my drum hardware is DW and I only use Vic Firth sticks. I play enough that I might be able to get a small deal endorsing VF, but I like my independence. And as long as I never do that endorsement thing, I can still grumble about it.

Rickenbacker & Fender basses, GK amps, Mesa cabs, Peterson (tuner) Darkglass and another effects company that I have not yet determined, Rotosound strings.

I cant think of any accessories I need.

Since the gear listed above is what I already have, I dont need an endorsement and since I'm not in a band I wouldn't get one anyway.

I love this thread.

Basses: Diamond Jack Guitars - This is my own "brand" if you can call it that LOL. Right now it consists of my Franken P, a Fenderbird with SGD pickups I am making from a reclaimed Thunderbird Goth and a Jazz P/J I am making with a reclaimed Fender Jazz Body.

Second would be Sadowsky. Just cause if I was that good, that is what I would go for. Or maybe a Lakeland, or a Fedora, or a Wal, perhaps a Birdsong...........


Amps: Fender Bassman 100T. I love Fender Tube amps

Cabs: Hmmm. This is difficult, but probably Fender

Strings: Def Fender. Use them exclusively, love them.
