Who's got Halo 2?

Yeah i think there is a lotta crazy hype on Halo2, ...dang it's just a shooter with a good storyline. Must be M$ w/ pumpin the dollas into the commercials. I mean not like any other FPS over the past few years on PC (halflife, doom3, Systemshock2).

That said i'll pick it up anyway. The first one was a blast cooperative. It's still 2 player coop, or 2-4 ??

I want it sooooooo bad, but me and my brother were gonna split the cost 50/50 and he pulled out, so now I'll have to wait at least a few weeks.

Xbox Live guys, my gamertag is radiodialdeath. Stupid name, I know, but I wanted to change accounts since my year just expired, but it renewed itself somehow. Oh well. Gotta find 50 bucks for that too, and my mic is broken :hmm:

But I guess thats a good thing, I've got far too much homework to do right now.

today at school, i would say that probably there were at least 3 kids in every class i had that skipped school to go to a huge, absolutley massive halo 2 party. I heard rumors about there being around 25 televisions and one projector, and i dont know how many xboxes. All i know is the plan for the party was to: 1. get halo2 and xboxes and televisions inside this kids huge house (parents are in the caribean)
2. Put weed into a large comunal weed sack
3. Play halo2 singleplayer
4. Play halo2 multiplayer
5. Rip some bowls
6. Repeat steps 2-4 over, and over, and over.

sounded like alot of fun, but alas, i had a math test
slick

+1.

And on a side note, I think we should really all wait for Half Life 2 to destroy Halo 2.

While I'm a huge fan of both series, to be honest I don't see Half Life 2 doing near as well as Halo 2, for the sole fact that Xbox owners don't have to sell a kidney to buy the upgrades to run it. But I'm sure it'll be the better single player game. I'm sure the next CounterStrike will have amazing gameplay as well.

I mean, my pc can run it, but not alot of other's can.

A few questions I have for those who have already played it:

Can you transfer weapons/ammo/expolsives from one character to another?

Are there really "combo moves" like I have heard rumors too?

Did they make sure that the other Marines can drive the Warthog/Scorpion?

Rock on
Eric

Since these questions really don't count as "spoilers" I'm happy to answer:

1. Yes, instead of killing your fellow humans to scavenge the sniper rifle, you just walk up to them and hit "x" to exchange weapons. It's much more civil. Explosives are not transferable in the single player mode, not sure about multiplayer, but I doubt it.

2. There are no "combo" moves. There is one weapon that can be used two different ways--one way with a button and another way with a trigger. Combos just wouldn't be the Master Chief's style.

3. The AI for both your side and the other side is HUGELY improved. You can hop a ride in the back of the Warthog and actually do pretty well--they do kind of smart things. The Covenant AI is just plain scary, and what's especially cool is that they are never in the same place when you die and restart. Sometimes the three Elites are on one side of the room, sometimes they are on the other, etc. It's nice.

A bunch of people from my dorm have been camped out in the classroom in the basement for the past few hours, playing Halo2 hooked up to the projector. It looks surprisingly similar to Halo1, but interesting. I'm more of a computer game fan myself, and I havn't played it, so I'm not going to comment. (I'm so looking foward to Half-Life2 in a week though!!--the fun won't really start though until several months after when the mods start rolling out.)

Good. I had heard som rumors as towards the "Hit-them-with-the-butt-of-the-pistol-then-shoot-them-in-the-face" kind of moves. I'm glad they kept this based more in reality.

New weapons, new bad guys, new AI, man, this is going to be sweet!!

::hops up and down on one foot waiting for Friday::

Rock on

I'm up to where the game changes dramatically, 'nuff said! I agree with everything Dr. Phunkypants has said... this game is the shizzy.

For those who don't like Halo or Halo 2: First, I'm not sure why you're reading this thread. ;) Second: maybe you prefer arcadey style shootemups. Me, I have always thought it silly that one soldier could carry (and switch immediately between) 10 to 20 different firearms, not to mention having ammo for each one. Having to choose just 2 (or 3, with dual-wield) at a time makes for a much more realistic and challenging game. Plus, there's a genuine plot. Also, having neutral and friendly NPC's is great (killing everything that moves is kinda lame). Finally, the many details that Dr. P mentioned add up to a truly immersive experience. I'm sure HalfLife2 will also be great, but that's another game that has a rich story and neutral/friendly NPC's... although like most other FPSes, the original HL was very arcadey, weapons-wise.

Hey man! Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Since I was making headway at an alarming rate on normal mode, I went back and replayed the first few levels on heroic. It's amazing how much visual detail there is, while retaining the first game's sense of place. I think I'll have to play each level about 100 times to catch it all.

You know what I mean? Everybody loves Blood Gulch because there are only about ten places to hide, but they're all AWESOME places to hide. I like that the new environments LOOK a lot more complicated/immersive, but when you get right down to it, there still are only about ten or so places to hole up.

I took a half day from work yesterday and played Halo 2 almost non-stop until 1 am. I am a super huge loser but thats cool, Im comfortable with who I am! :D My review... best game ever. The game is so much better its like its on the next generation of gaming systems when compared to halo 1. Im playing heroic and am already back on the halo.

I have it. I got the limited edition. I find myself HUGELY disappointed with it so far. I played it until 2am just to see what was up and so far all I can tell is I was sold Halo 1 in a new box. I was bored out of my mind...very strange considering the "hype." What the heck were they doing for three years?

Thats what I was afraid of....just regular Halo, a shiny coat of polish, and some new extras.

But to be honest, that doesn't bother me....I want it almost solely for playing it on Xbox Live. :hyper:

I worried a little about starting in Heroic. There have been a couple of tough spots, but I'm happy to have a challenge. I got through only three levels of Halo on Legendary... one of them was the last level, so I got to see the slightly different ending.

As you said, I marvel at the detail... every time I go through the game, I notice something different. It's also fun to try different strategies: first time through I did a lot of hiding and sniping, second time it was my goal to run over as many baddies with the Warthog as possible.

I haven't even looked at Halo2 multiplayer yet, but some coworkers and I are going to have our first Halo2 LAN party tomorrow evening (6-way fragfest). I think I'll check out Xbox Live over the weekend... I wanna get thru the single player version before I hear any spoilers.
