Who's got Halo 2?

I have it. I got the limited edition. I find myself HUGELY disappointed with it so far. I played it until 2am just to see what was up and so far all I can tell is I was sold Halo 1 in a new box. I was bored out of my mind...very strange considering the "hype." What the heck were they doing for three years?
Methinks you're only at level 4 or less. Keep playing.

Depends on what you're expecting. IGN gave Halo2 a 9.8. Official Xbox Magazine offered the comment "it'll seem like you've played some of this before", but they still gave the game a 9.7.

It's important to note that the Xbox hardware hasn't changed. Bungie pushed its limits first time around. Isn't like with PC sequels: they take advantage of better hardware so you usually get a bigger "wow" factor.

I worried a little about starting in Heroic. There have been a couple of tough spots, but I'm happy to have a challenge. I got through only three levels of Halo on Legendary... one of them was the last level, so I got to see the slightly different ending.

Cmon fuzz! you can beat Halo 1 on legendary! Thats the only way to play the game! :D

I think maybe you did get halo 1 in a new box... ;)

Thats what I was afraid of....just regular Halo, a shiny coat of polish, and some new extras.

But to be honest, that doesn't bother me....I want it almost solely for playing it on Xbox Live. :hyper:

"Just regular Halo" is still pretty darn good stuff where I come from.

Keep an open mind. There are sure to be some folks who don't think it's the best game they've ever seen. But most folks here do seem to think it's a positive, if evolutionary, step for the frachise. It's a fun game and at the end of the day, that's what it's all about.

Hey Ken, did you read the novels? The ones that take place before the first game and after the first game are actually above average scifi reading. The one that chronicles the course of the first game is tripe by another author.

Calling it the best game ever would be a huge stretch for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo and I'm sure I'll love Halo 2, but for me, Halo's defining moment is multiplayer, because IMO the story for Halo was boring as hell, as well as repeated rooms/backgrounds (Assualt on the Control Room gives me a serious case of Deja Vu).

I hope the single player isn't like the first one at all, because to be honest half the time I got bored playing it.

One of my Halo gang has the novels and suggested I read 'em. I'll see if I can borrow the two you recommended, Brian. Though he did explain that one (the first?) explained how Master Chief could understand what the little orange buggers (unggoy?) were saying.

Looking forward to multiplayer tonight: four Xboxes, four teevees, six players at once. I took a quick look last night and was very impressed with the post-game stats... they'll certainly enhance the postgame trash-talking.

Disclaimer - This may or may not be seen as a spoiler for those of you who dont have the game, I dont think it is, but if you want to avoid it anyway, move along. :D

Does anybody else die really easy in mulyplayer mode? Im talking about the co-op campaign. :hmm:

I haven't played it yet, nor do I have an X-Box. Am I the only person on this forum that spends ALL of their money on bass equipment? :D

Having said that, I'll say that the first Halo was a must at any get-together with two or more people and a TV, and I'm anxious to play the second one. I'm sure most of my friends have it already. :hyper:

Call me an idiot then. In fact I think Halo 2 is pretty much just plain "bad."

nah, im just jokin man. i havent played halo 2 much, but what i have i can definitely see what you mean, it does seem to be a bit of rehashing. its just that for my crowd halo was a way of life so i have high hopes and expectations for halo 2 (and even if its nothing but a remixed halo 1 with a few additions, ill be happy)

It's cool man. I really enjoyed playing through halo 1 even though I didn't think it was revolutionary at all or anything. But it was a lot of fun. This one feels a lot less "solid" for some reason. Try it out, let us know what you think. I kinda gave up on it a few levels through and have already forgotten about it. More time for bass! ;)

Well, I've been playing for the last 5 days (the reason that I have been away for so long) and I can say that I'm not impressed. Yeah, the graphics are way cool. And the story line is pretty cool. But the game doesn't seem to have the fluidity of HALO 1. You go from space station to earth to covanent ship in just three levels. Orginal HALO had a small story line, but it was all connected. This seems disjointed.

The new weapons are cool, but they changed how things sound!! The plasma rifle, pistol, needler, and even the fusion cannon all sound different and even operate differently. Was there a huge time gap that I missed? A lot of my play is done on Surround sound, and I could tell by the sound if the attack to my left was something I could take or needed to dodge. Now I have to learn a whole new round of sounds, and it's getting me confused.

I also don't like how they changed the vehicles. The warthog is much harder to drive now, cause you can't swing the back end around. I used to be able to run people over left and right by doing these cool side-to-side swings, but you can't do that now. Yes, I know that there is a powerslide feature, but that isn't the same, and it slows you down.

My rating for this is :):)Meh+. Not great, and I kinda thing I was ripped of at $50, but I'll keep it and finish the game.

Rock on
Eric
