Most of those guys didn't play the whole season.
So what? Don't let a few facts get in the way of this debate.

There's WAY more to the QB position than stats.
Cutler is a detriment, IMO.
Most of those guys didn't play the whole season.
Your passer rating doesn't go up by starting more games. In fact, the number of games you play has absolutely zero effect on your passer rating.
...and most of them played quite a few games.
Jamarcus Russel - 12/16
Jake Delhomme - 11/16
Josh Freeman - 10/16
Matt Stafford - 10/16
Mark Sanchez - 15/16
Brady Quinn - 10/16
Ryan Fitzpatrick - 10/16
Matt Cassel - 15/16
Marc Bulger - 9/16
Matt Hasselbeck - 14/16
Chad Henne - 14/16
Average number of games started: ~12
Average number of games started by all 32 NFL starters: ~14
Not a huge statistical difference from the group at large.
More games = more stats. How does that not affect rating?![]()
Last year Eli Manning had a game where he had the following stats:
8/10, 173 yards, 2 touchdowns.
His QB rating for that game? 158.3.
His QB rating for the season if that is the only game he played? 158.3
... but that would change if he played two games and put up different numbers.
The only thing I find more incredible than Cutler's 26 INTs is that he threw 27 TDs on a team where he was running for his life on half the plays and his WRs were running the wrong route the other half.
If he cuts his INTs by even 1/3 and increases his TDs by 1/3 that's a season of 36 TDs to 17 INTs (FWIW Peyton Manning in 2009, 33 TDs and 16 INTs). At which point I dare say no one will give a damn about his intangibles.
LOL! It's true! If he had one crazy-incredible game/ridiculously awful game thrown in there, his passer rating would have changed quite a bit.
