Why do I even bother?

After posting ideas in the technique forum for a while, I quit. Put simply, TB ain't the place for all the reasons Jimmy mentioned and a few more.

TB shines in a lot of forums, especially amps . Technique and Instruction, only on the DB side. I showed one particularly memorable thread on theory to my instructor and he said that s why you shouldnt waste your time on social media.

I don't necessarily disagree, although I definitely see a use for practicing with it in this world where recording is done with a click a lot of the time.

LOL...well thanks for bringing up this little stroll down memory lane, Steve! And I still share your frustration 14 years later because I still see a lot of the same stuff I've always seen on here. It's a little better, though...at least I've figured out how to discern the serious ones from the ones who aren't and just want to be disruptive.

I still say if most of us are being honest, though, we got into it for the girls

But understand that you don't always get feedback from people you've helped. They're typically less vocal than those you've triggered by challenging their beliefs.

I put up a thread about my use of a number system. It was pretty clear that the initial objectors hadn't put much thought into it. But that's just how some people are. The cool part was that the people who got it got it. That's what I was shooting for.

While my post was meant as a joke, pointed at how many actually quite experienced bass player that would act in the way you describe some unexperienced bass players do to advises from more experienced players to that point, I do actually too agree with Jeff Berlin here.

He probably would be wrong if all music was played by robots with a perfectly tight fixed clock frequency, but then again a lot of music would work rather badly that way.

I guess though the notion should really be: "Too much intense exclusive and zealous training with a metronome comes with a possible risk of ruining your sense of timing".
