Why do people like that Fieldy dude?

I have alaways said that korn was cheap ripp off of Faith No More.

The more i think about it, if Korn sounded anything like Faith No More, then Korn would sound good. Face it, Korn is cool if your like 13 years old and hang out at the mall. Not to mention korn is responsible for perhaps the biggest joke since Vanilla Ice, of course you know i mean that limp bizkit band. The fact that someone here actually likes them is funny.

Faith No More like any other Mike Patton band that makes unique, brilliant, preverted, dark twizted songs. Korn is band that wears funny looking jumpsuits and produces mass produced cookie cutter albums that all sound EXACTLY the same. And you think korn is dark?? They only have that image because they know kids will eat that stuff up. But if you like them, then more power to ya.

I agree with you guys when you say "err! I ain't need practice! I got a "B" string that is down to my knees" ...I heard he never practices,he only plays on tours and in the studio...I'm not about that:-/

I like the people who Marry the bass


E.G- Meegs(Guitarist of Coal Chamber) would lock himself in his room and practice for 8-12 hours...

You have 8 posts on TB any none are productive.
Not trying to be a dick but spending your time playing instead of asking stupid questions will be a lot more productive.

I couldn't agree more! I admit, when I first got into bass, Fieldy was one of the most influencial musicians to my demographic and he seemed more talented than the others because he made all those fast clicks. Now I look back and I can't stand the bass lines used in their song. (I was doing vocals in a band and the bassist used a Fieldy tone. I kicked him out, despite having reasonable talent, the clicks were intolerable!)

But as previously stated, Korn couldn't appeal to the masses if they'd had a more talented bass player - they fit into a genre in which simple music reigns. They have no guitar solos, no bass solos and if they did then they'd be far too musicial to live up to the image they portray - emotionally ravaged souls who just make heavy music (but we all know the lack of truth within those words).

The unfortunate fact is that in a large amount of music styles, good bass playing doesn't necessarily fit. Moreover, it takes a hell of a lot of talent to be able to fit good playing into a lot of genres and it's one thing to be able to make good music, its another to make appropriate music for your style.

Feel free to dig into Fieldy as much as you like - I know I sure do - but remember, any other bass player wouldn't have made Korn as successful as they sadly are.

I don't get it. I put knicks in my headstock all the time from hitting cymbals. It hasn't made me popular.

i see them as more of a throwback to late 70s-early 80s punk (as far as their approach to songwriting, intent as musicians, etc.). i like system, but i don't like punk (of any era) that much. and tomahawk is pretty bad. i saw them live opening for tool - it's obvious they're better on recordings, but i think they rip off prog-metal as much as rap-rock ripped off fnm. but they all ripped off grand funk railroad.

i don't think any better of him just because ibanez knows they can get teenagers who are korn fans to buy a bass if they put his name on it. i've actually seen this in a samash catalog, but i didn't know it was a "fieldy" signature - it doesn't mention it in the description. imagine all the people who see and think it's nice and buy it, only to realize they just bought a fieldy signature. poor folks. it might be a nice bass; unfortunately, few people who buy a fieldy sig are really going to appreciate having active p/us and eq. or having five strings.

I dont care for Korn or Fiedly or whatever he calls himself. But I'm not going to sit here and say this guy sucks or cant play worth a crap.

Too many musicians are always slamming other muscians saying negative things about them. I'm just not into that. If he wants a clanky sound and have f***ed up looking hair, I don't have a problem with it.
