I remember the first time playing a Fender bass. This was before I knew about all the hype about the company. It was obviously so much better than the other basses that were on display.

Does this thread make any sense in a world where countless bass makers sell Fender Jazz or Precision clones such as Lakland, Lull, Sadowsky, Carvin, G&L, Schecter?...so if you are playing one of those clones you are also, in a way, playing a Fender, right? It just does not say Fender on the headstock.
...and many try every other bass they can - sometimes over decades - and still decide that Fender is best for them.
^^^^^
No kidding. I'm recuperating from being ambushed by three punks on 8/4. I'm just now able to sleep on the couch instead of a chair for a few hours at a time, and so I have spent way to much time here..
Hopefully I can get back to playing my bass soon.
Well, if you're playing a G&L, you *are* playing a Fender. Not a clone. It just does not say Fender on the headstock.
(And wouldn't a little brand variety in the bass world be a good thing,)
