Why does fender put the logo in the wrong place on Vintera 50s Precision?

It's a Fender product made by Fender.

You think the pickups are wound identically? Using the same exact kind of wire? ae hand-wound techniques? Same finish and finishing process? Same exact woods?

No. You're taking that way too seriously (in my view). Reissue guitars and basses have NEVER been identical to the originals. It's impossible.

If that 1/8" matters to you then Fender is not marketing that bass to you.

I bet you lunch at your favorite restaurant that the decal location which bothers you so has hurt sales roughly 0%. One guy on Earth refuses to buy that bass for that reason. Almost nobody had even noticed until you brought it up.

Also, if I had 5 minutes right now, I'm positive I could find an original 50s P bass with a decal that close to the edge. Humans made them back them. Humans, even you, aren't perfect. ;)

See, I knew most '64 Jazz Basses were defective!

Seriously, this about akin to someone posting a thread complaining about the wood grain pattern in Fender's necks looking wrong or inconsistent. It's a waterslide decal. For nearly 70 years they've never gone on at a precisely consistent location and they never will.

If you try putting one on yourself some day then perhaps you'll better understand.

Personally, I don't pay much attention to any of that, whatever brand. I myself make a decision based on if the instrument plays/sounds good and the build quality is on par with asking price. I couldn't see making a purchase based on decal placement, and I'm sure Fender doesn't give a rats backside about it either. If it bothers you, don't buy. Simple.

2) If they are the manufacturer/designer of the bass, it is (quite literally) impossible for them to place the decal in the "wrong" location. If they placed it upside down on the back of the head, and did that for every single one of those models, it would be correct, and as intended.

If you notice closely, it is actually the headstock that is shaped ever so slightly different. The original American Vintage line beginning in 1982 all the way through the 2012 redo had an inaccurate headstock shape. Vintage Fender headstocks have less of a french curve on the bottom than modern headstocks. Even the Japanese Fender headstocks of the era are more accurate....regardless of decal placement. The other thing that bugs me about all the reissues are the Gotoh vintage tuners....with the higher gear ratio, they are indeed better than the original Kluson pre 1968 tuners, but they are very inaccurate....thats a detail that drives me bonkers.

Wow there are some very, very thick craniums in here haha. If you think I’m being over critical, I really honestly couldn’t care less in a million years so you could save your comments. Perhaps I do have OCD? Maybe that’s what helps me excel in my software development career, where I am very highly paid indeed. If you aren't detail oriented, then good for you. I really don’t care. And certainly I do not care whatsoever about your opinions of me.

The fact that older basses could have slightly random placement is completely irrelevant. I was comparing the American Original to the Vintera. However still no one here has presented a vintage headstock that looks like a Vintera, which always has very consistent decal placement and is always right on the edge of that stock. I find that unappealing. If you don’t, who cares?

Yeah if the OP wants to look through the hundreds of photos posted in the Fender pre-CBS Club thread (see in my signature Fender pre-CBS Club: pics mandatory!) there is variation. I see it in my own instruments, Fender basses from the 60s, 70s, 80s and more recent.
