It looks like Gibson Amps will be making a comeback very soon

I'm not sure Gibson would be considered an old brand revival, tho...

I got scared last night when one of my big cedars fell. I don’t think a new amp would be that scary. Sounded like thunder and the house shook. And cedar pollen makes my eyes itch. Amps don’t do that. Especially creamy Tolex amps.

When was the most recent Gibson amp manufactured? Let alone in a retro style as that appears to be, with a throwback model name. There was the Goldtone series about 25 years ago, with a pseudo-retro vibe, but those died the death.

Love my Gibson bass amps. Thunderfunk was a rebranded Gibson GB440, which itself was effectively a Gibson-branded AMP BH420. Some may not be aware that Gibson owns Mesa Boogie, so likely Mesa would be involved in any “Gibson” amps.

Hope they do go with a retro good looks vibe. Yamaha dropped the ball big-time that way with the latest Ampeg amp.

GK has been on the right track with the Legacy series, except for the legalese printed over half the top of the amp being a huge visual fail. For some applications, looks matter too.

This is an all tube guitar amp, no class D or switchmode power supply. It was designed by Randall and the guitar amp team at Mesa to capture the (very much vintage) vibe of the old Falcon GA series but with enhancements and a little bit of creative licence from Cesar and the Gibson team. It's very, very much not a rebranding of a Mesa product, though we are building it here in the US for for Gibson because that's an important element for all of us involved with the product line.

I have seen it, heard it, I worked on the project and it's real. I can't say anymore, but I'm sure there will be lots of speculation... including usual incorrect rumors generated by the guitar amp forum mills.
