Why doesn't Ampeg have....?

A non-ported 6x10? I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a thread. I'm just curious why one doesn't exist. Their 8x10 is simply too big for my needs (and my car most importantly), and the 6x10s inherent tone just doesn't do it for me nearly as much as its non-ported big brother.

Probably because it's a little dangerous to drown people in endless options. Having said that, it would be nice to have a couple more smaller sealed options that are tuned like the 810e.

One can LOOk at an NV610 all day long, but it AIN'T an Ampeg 610

I agree, I'd love to see a nicely made Sealed Ampeg 610- that's been pretty much the ONLY thing stopping me getting the 810E - I've 95% of the time, gotta carry the PA as well as my bass gear, + I play keys bass too, so there's that, & lights, & leads & people... & I only JUST have room for my NV412 (same size as NV610 & probly an Ampeg 610) So an Ampeg 810 is just that too much for me. Pity- I do love em.

I've been waiting for years for Ampeg to make an "SVT-610E". If it ever gets created, then I'll be the first one in line to buy. I've even pondered building my own from a modified SVT-810E. :)

I wonder what people asking about a sealed 610 are really missing with the current sealed 410 and 810? Sure you trade of size and volume between those two cabs, but do you really see to gain with the 610? a little more volume, and a little less size? IMHO the limited appeal of that combo with the same tonal profile would be a failure on Ampegs part. Right now if you look at the 410he, 410HLF, 610HLF, and 810e, all those cabs hit different marks. The sealed cabs share a similar tone, but have different size. The two 410's are different tonally. The two HLF cabs are different sizes, but also different sounds.

All in all they havnt double up on to many points, which is a good thing.

I kind of agree. I'll admit I've got zero interest in a 610e or he. But as it stands, they've only got 3 cabs with the rolled off HE tuning, and one is medium duty.

I agree a sealed 610 would be preferable to the current 610 which is currently floating in a weird place where it's not a smaller version of the 810 but not a bigger version of the 410hlf and doesn't have the benefits of either of those two designs... Plus from experience it distorts too easily with a big head and doesn't quite give enough with a smaller powered head. A bit of a black sheep IMO but there are some who love them, particularly v4bh users who need more from their rig

They offer a two but not a three,
they offer a four but not a five,
they even offer an eight but not a nine,
you'd think that they would offer a six but not a seven.

One thing for sure, Ampeg doesn't like anything odd.

IMHO Ampeg would really have to knock it out of the park to produce a 215, at a work able price, that can contend with some of the great high end 215's out there right now.

I suppose they could do something with the drivers they use in the PF-115LF. But they would have to do so at less than the cost of two of those cabs.

I've owned all of the above-stated cabs. Here is why I would like a 610E:
1. The 810E was the best sounding (to my ears). The 810E is just four sealed 2x10 chambers; a 610E would then just be three sealed 2x10 chambers. My guess is that the two cabs would sound very similar.
2. The 610HLF was the easiest to move around of the four cabs: 810E is a giant, the 410HLF is 3" deeper than the others and won't easily fit in a car, the 410HE has cheap casters that break easily.
3. The 410HLF sounded muddy and was actually more cumbersome to move around than the 610HLF or 810E.
4. The 410E, on its own, cannot provided a suitable tone or volume for my needs.

Problem is, to get a 4 Ohm 610 you would have to use drivers that differ from what is in the sealed 810 and 410. Thus the cab would sound different.
