Why doesn't Spector improve their body design?

Spector has a very comfortable body design, the all rounded edges, belly scoop, etc. However, why don't they make the upper horn longer to prevent neck-dive? As well as the distance from the edge to the bridge, the bass will be more balanced if there's not a lot of space between the bridge and the strap peg(even tho the peg was already moved up a bit but it doesn't help a lot.)

I know Spector's body shape is based on Ned Steinberger's design but even Ned himself extended the upper horn for a whole lot on his NS-Design basses, why doesn't Spector do so?

Because they hate you. No one needs this sort of negativity in their life. Find another bass. You're welcome.

While you're at it, why don't they spell it correctly? There is an eerie spectre this thread not including a specter.

His body design looks ok, tho I'm no expert.

Ironically, I was just coming here to say I've never had any neck dive issues with my Rebop actually. Then again, my hardware is all (durable) plastic rather than brass/chrome/etc., so I'm sure that helps.

I've also found that a Comfort Strapp seems to pair incredibly well with Spector. I mention this as I recall hearing complaints about the locations of their strap buttons as well. I tried using other straps with my Rebop when I first got it, and I remember nothing else worked nearly as well. The other straps made me feel like I reallyyy had to stretch to reach those frets near the nut.

It could just be a personal victory, but in this situation the Comfort Strapp really lived up to it's name. It was comfortable to wear with my Spector in general, and easy to situate the bass and it's odd strap button placements to a comfortable place with my fretting hand as well (thus solving my issues of reach).

How did u do that?
I play only the 5 strings so I lined up a new hole in the body basically in line with the A string (well maybe like a 1mm to the left of where the A but just barely).

I don't like the longer reach, but I'm short. Taller people probably find them super comfortable. Lots of choices out there and they sell plenty in the current configuration. Why change it up to please another demographic and lose your current demographic?

On topic, that body shape is iconic, and a lot of players like it. I am a little puzzled by all the subtle variations of that body shape, though. To my eye, the upper horn in particular will vary in shape a good bit from model to model.

I find it interesting that someone in this thread said that wearing it lower causes neck dive. My experience is a little different. I find that wearing a bass like a Spector higher emphasizes the extra distance to the first fret.

For reference, I have 3 Spectors, 3 Thunderbirds, a Thumb, and an ASAT. I wear them lower than I typically wear other basses, with the neck below my belt line. It did take a little bit to get used to that - at first, it felt like the bass was just swinging around at the end of the strap and I was always chasing it. Once I adjusted to that, which happened pretty quickly, I found that I don't really have many problems with neck dive. Some of those basses like to hang a little closer to level, but the ASAT is really the only one with a headstock that chases the floor.
