Why I NEVER Vent On Here About Band Problems

Hi Manti :)

I didn’t realize it right away, but there are a couple bass players on here who run in the same scene as me and once I started saying something about my band and realized there were people on here who know me and them... so yeah be careful.

Wow! That' s :poop:

When I think about the threads you posted e.g. "pay to play" or the the thread(s) about your drummer :(

You were never the bad guy on your threads! :)

Internet has two faces! A good one and a bad one.

Heads up! And :bassist:!!!

No the pay to play stuff I don’t care because believe me I said it to their faces. Also I wouldn’t mind at all if they read the feedback.

But yeah the drummer thing. Someone in the thread was like “I just saw your band and he wasn’t that bad.” That made me feel kind of dumb. Word to the wise. Also, he really just needed a good
monitor to hear the band I think. It bothers me that he fell out at shows more than once and said he couldn’t hear the band yet did not take steps to properly monitor the band. I don’t think it was his skill as much as not making the effort to be able to hear the band.

But I digress. If you post about your band, assume one of your fans is reading it. Or they are. Seriously.

Rabbit holes don't derail threads, people derail threads.

Are you too picky and/or detail oriented?

No, it's more like I get this sort of manic energy that I never get unless I'm playing music, and it bugs people. And I'll talk into the mic when I should be talking in person. Also I'm usually the songwriter (nowadays more like riff writer), and I either have a finished product in my head, or I'm dicking around trying to find one, and both of these things are annoying.

If I didn’t love dysfunction and erratic behavior, I would have never gotten into bands.
Absolutely true.
Same applies for joining TB for that matter.
Anyway, great post by JimmyM and to add on that, I'm not a fan of naming Gitarists "ritards" and something similar for drummers either.
I understand the urge to rant and to vent, but still, hey, respect and looking in the mirror and all that...

Hi Jimmy :)

Finally! Page 11! :hyper:

The drummer has been fired, which makes me sad! I like him!

(I won 't take a drummer to a restaurant but still…:D)

The BL hired a guitarist who auditioned with a 10 W practice amp (the only one who wasn 't loud)

And the keyboarder who is vegan and doesn' t drink started to sample my sounds.

Rock & Roll stopped to smell funny! :D

thx for the thread!

Speaking as a sometime drummer, if I was your drummer, the dis is probably true.

As far as a drummer not being able to hear the rest of the band, it depends on the music up to a point. It's far better if everyone can hear everyone else. There have been time when I cannot hear one or more other band members. That happens both as a bass player and as a drummer. It's frustrating, but you get through it by sticking to the groove as you know it, as best you can. Especially as the drummer, you are keeping the time and being a clock for most, but not all, music. Keep looking around to pick up other cues when you can, and listen to as much as you can actually hear. Do that well and it's less of an issue. It's even worse in a boomy room, but so it goes.
