why isnt there a J.Jamerson sig.bass

No that wasn't exactly what I meant. What I meant was to distinguish it and say 'some of these sig instruments they appeared to try a little, and others not at all'

Taking out of the equation I think the SH P Bass looks awesome and if I had the budget to get a new P bass it is the one I would buy because I like the colour, pups, and strings. Yes I might be biased but no I don't think it's really worth the price hike for the name, regardless of the name, without something of real substance.

there was the rocco prestia, very short lived pbass with custom eq, and was the duck dunn pbass, also short lived out of japan.

there is the pino palladino sig pbass. a sting telecaster, a steve harris precision.

If I remember the legend goes something like this: he never changed his strings and one day his manager changed his strings and he had a heart attack and died from it.

Fender would never produce a signature bass for a guy that just kept playing the same old thing since we live in the age of disposable goods. There just isnt any money in such an idea. LOL

to add to this, i think fender sigs guitars based on the popularity of the artist with the most fans of that particular band as the decades roll by. the cash register likes this.

if lady gaga or ariana played bass, guess what..

the modded Mustang you picture would be great yes. Specifically because it's not a stock instrument you can just get off the shelf. But it wasn't the bass she even played most often. She also played the Bronco, the Jazz, a Hofner, all of which were basically stock.

In fact Invalid Link Removed shows Tina with her modded Mustang on the Fender page. But they don't offer the option they're using her image to advertise.

D'arcy and Carol's basses were both basically stock instruments also. Again I would like to see them and others honoured but releasing a stock instrument with their name and an increased price isn't an honour really.

these days with the economy and competition, with most bass players being male, a female sig is a pipe dream. but it could inspire more females to play bass. if they time it right. a corporate decision to spend on such a sig would need to see $$$ at the end of the tunnel. that said, there are women bassists of prominence. however the idea appears not to be strong enough to convince corporate.

Well, they do offer a Squier Eva Gardner sig but none in the main Fender lineup that I know if.
