why isnt there a J.Jamerson sig.bass

There's no James Jamerson signature bass because it'd be unplayable. No one (as far as I know) has a stock of 20+ year old thick flatwounds and having the action as high as JJ did would make these Precisions unplayable for most of us. And as others have mentioned, it'd just be a 62 AVRI with a special edition neck plate and nothing more.

I always thought Jamerson's P bass is too generic, it's one of the few styles/colours they offered back then and he didn't modify it in any way that would be playable by others. I'm kind of glad there isn't 'one just for the sake of it' in his name.

I wouldn't either, just because I don't normally do that. However, I'm talking about selling a bass, not buying one.

What can I say? I tired of Fender pulling this !#$%&% rather than just trying to put out the best instruments they can.

If I remember correctly, the first two signature Fenders were Jaco and Jamerson. Now I have to Google most of the players who have signature basses.

And yes, I made a couple of pilgrimages to Bass Centre back in the olden days.

Yes, one was already done in the early 90's.
But c'mon, just like many "sig" basses it was just a bone stock Fender. Yes I do dislike sigs.

I agree with this guy, though I don't completely dislike sigs, a lot of them are basically a P or J-bass with a name slapped onto them. When they're different though, like the Marcus Miller, Mark Hoppus (don't like blink 182, being more of a hardcore punk fan, but they're good at what they do and his bass is a cool idea) or the old Stu Hamm Fender signature were actually pretty unique

1991 - James Jamerson / Jaco Pastorius
1993 - Stu Hamm
1998 - Geddy Lee / Marcus Miller

Well I've got a bit of a dour viewpoint on these sig/tribute instruments. May, Gilmour, Clapton, etc have all made/modified their instruments so it's something entirely different than a stock instrument. I endorse giving us the options that these and others have come up with.

There haven't been THAT many basses that are so drastically far from stock. It IS kind of insulting that Geezer, DeeDee, and others have sig instruments that are almost bone stock. At least Harris's has his sig Rotos strung on it. I get the Sting sig P because it's unique.
