People tend to like music from their last carefree year, before kids, divorces, sucky jobs etc. I have no problem finding great music, ask my credit card statement.
Not me...ever see what happens on the dance floor when you play "I Kissed A Girl" vs "La Villa Strangiato"? I have. Young girls making out and dirty dancing vs 45 year old guys playing air bass? Guess which one I'm going with. Besides, think of all the awful music that came out around the same time as Hemispheres...like "Disco Duck." That was one of the big hits of the day...choosing between "Disco Duck" or "I Kissed A Girl" is a more apt comparison. And again, "I Kissed A Girl" wins.

(hey, it was me!).I think your point kind of touches on a different point, which is: "why do YOU play your instrument?". For me, it's more fun to play something challenging. I've done shows covering some difficult (in a way that's fun for me) music, and other shows catering to a bunch of drunks inside a smoky bar. The former was always a LOT more satisfying for me, and the latter was...more of a paycheck.

I'm with him. Modern music has some crud here and there, but there's a lot of great artists from pop to rock to hip hop and rap and everything in between. No sense in being an elitist snob.
You have fun your way, bro. Not into the sausage fests myself, but far be it from me to tell you how to have a good time.

I'd personally love to see a cover of this song. But it's gotta have the brass and strings for the complete 70's feel.

Even if I don't like the music being bashed I find it tiring when people confuse their opinions for being facts.... though maybe I'm just grumpy cause someone in this thread got 'yummy yummy yummy' stuck in my head...

I saw an AMAZING rush cover band called mystic rhythms. They had the screens and everything...costume and instrument changes to be period specific. Worth a 3 state drive for a rush fan...well, a REAL rush fan.
On topic - i love all the posts talking about i kissed a girl as a modern song. Tune came out in 2008...11 years ago. NOT modern.
