Lots of reasons, few having to do with the quality. I dont like the aesthetic.

why is an Ibanez bass guitar not a very popular bass.....I have 5 out of 30 bass guitars.....I love the sounds......But when I read up on bass players out of the masses only a few play Ibanez......I was just wondering why that is???????They look and sound great to me.......

Two of my five are Ibanez plus a very nice AS200 guitar. I have no brand stigma. These instruments are well made and deliver what I want. If I could find one of these in Australia I’d probably make it three.

Can you be more specific. They have made and still make a variety of body shapes. Some I like, some not so much.

The standard Soundgear body shape is unappealing to me, and lots of companies use a similar shape. I've played some older SR200s and liked them. Light weight, value for money. I've just been a Fender guy for 20 years, and lately Reverend.

Got 4 Ibby's including an acoustic. Been a fan and loves me some Gary Willis GWB20th which is my favorite player, at least until my G&L L2000 CLF gets here. We'll see if it will become my new favorite.

Yes, even though I own one, the SR shape is not my favourite. It was a good price and my budget was limited. I’ve been a Fender guy too but for 46 years. My old Precision - I still have it - made me a living for a very long time and it’s the standard that I measure everything else by. Alas, it is a 4 string and 5 is my choice these days. The Deluxe 5 I had wasn’t quite right so I moved it on. My current build project is going to be a Precision style but with narrower string spacing.

I think you're way off base.
Agreed. Ibanez gets a lot of love here. I'm not sure how anyone would get the impression that people don't consider them to be serious instruments.

Thanks! You understand what I am trying to say......I want to try one with Aguilar 6 string pickups....I need to know what the pros and cons are about them and not telling me to get a J bass.......Thanks again......
Respectfully, nobody would understand your premise based upon the initial post. If your goal was to find out how these would perform with Aguilar 6 string pickups, then that's what you should have led off with. Would have save everyone a whole lot of confusion and probably yielded more helpful replies.

Back in the 70s I played an Ibby PB clone that truly had earth shattering lows. I thought it was very well made and played well. At the time however, I had a Rick and was playing in Ric-Sound. Sorry, no comparison.

Switched to Fenders when I started recording and really never looked at an Ibanez until about 5 years ago when I was looking for a 5 string. Mostly what I ran into was a boatload of bottom end poorly set up cheap Sound Gear models. Never did get my hands on a “Good” one and bought Warwick.

I’m sure Ibanez sells a lot better made and higher quality basses, because if they were trying to make a living making on just what I played, they’d be camped out under a bridge somewhere.

Not sure where you are but here in the US they're one of the most popular brands around.
I've always considered them the Starbucks of basses.
Take a look on Facebook, too.
Ibanez this, Ibanez that.
Not much different than all the Sire talk.
Certainly you've noticed all the Ibanez Talman posts here, right?

I had 4 Ibanez basses and really enjoyed them.

Getting a Muckelroy kind of turned most of my basses into glorified firewood. Everything about it was so perfect. I ended up selling off a bunch of basses after I got it.
