Why, oh why? (Pedalboard overkill content)

I would have thought that would be the minimum number of pedals for an 80s cover band.
Ok, trying to understand why you’re so upset at another bassist’s gear choices.
So you’re upset because the pedalboard footprint took up your space? Or these effects were used too early in the evening, well before open effects pedal season started? Or because the club size was under the minimum effect pedal usage regulation capacity? Or because he bragged about his lights when he should have apologized for them? Or because the bassist clearly went over the 1/6th-of-the-stage-size-band-member-footprint-alottment clause? Or because the effects ruined the sound of the band and got nothing close to 1980’s cover tunes sounds? Or because he maybe didn’t use every single pedal he brought? Or because the bassist didn’t sing but the drummer did? Or because you ate/drank something that night which caused your gast to become flabbered? (I hope you’ve recovered by now)
I still find myself asking, “why is this guy so miffed at another bassists gear choice?” Then I re-read your post and found the real reason at the very end:

Love that board! My first manic foray into pedals looked a lot like that. Got some poopie from the band mates for sure. (Edit: Lol love that cursing filter TB mods! Poopie...)
Made it more compact and now have mostly no shame. It can make most of the sounds of the big board too thanks to digital pedals and midi capability.
Does this seem overkill?
Only other thing I’m eyeing right now is switching the M9 for a stomp (which is a little bit smaller) and perhaps losing the SansAmp if the stomp’s modeling is up to par. Just to reduce the overall footprint and have a little more useful dirt and filter stuff in the stomp. Could also play with the FX chain since the M9 doesn’t have an FX loop. But I love the looper aspect of the M9. Had a DL4 for 18 years and that looper made me a better player. If I find one for the right price I’ll make the switch. (Also- anyone see those limited edition blue HX stomps and Helix? They popped up as in stock at my local GC.)
Bonus: bragging about my built in usb hub I put together this weekend:
I was always hooking my source audio stuff up to my laptop with a rats nest of mini usb cables and then a usb extension cord to get to the laptop. Then I’d have to disassemble every week to take the board to practice. Picked up a set of 4 different angle mini usb right angle patch cables on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D74YFL2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Qn4HDbXT6F2C5
And then one more reverse cable. Have the C4, Aftershock, Neuro hub, and Soleman all neatly run to the hub that is Velcro’d under the board. Don’t run the Reflex as it doesn’t play nice with my Mac OS and it’s not like you can edit much on it. I did use boot camp to change the midi output to thru on it. The usb hub’s switches are nice to have as I can disconnect devices if needed when things don’t play nice.
Last night I 3d printed a i/o bracket from thingiverse for the Novo24 as a cable holder and I can use it for fx loops if I decide to In the future. Have a 6ft USB extension cord that finishes the run to the laptop. I really like how neat it turned out.
Male end of the usb cable just gets tucked back into one of the holes for transport.
Probably should have made a separate post for all this but it started with self validation from all the smack talk in the thread!

I love how so many pedalboard on TB now have SA stuff haha. I've also been wanting to get right angled usb cables, thanks for the link! Great idea with the usb hub! The pic is a little dark so I can't see how you've mounted it, mind sharing again?

Thanks!! No doubt- it all started with the Manta for me then quickly grew into $$$. I still have my MWBD, Manta, and Hot Hand but the C4 and Aftershock covered most of what those did and then some. Still have 3 ports on the Neuro left but I’m waiting to see what @rsmith601 has coming down the pipe. Think something is planned for OctoberNICE BOARD!
.USB setup:
It’s a Sabrent usb 3.0 hub (just happened to already have it, works perfectly fine in legacy 2.0 along with the extension cable being a amazon basics usb 2.0 cable). On the Novo 24 there was enough room to mount it flush against the rail with Velcro on the back and still clear the usb A part of the cables:
The Neuro hub, C4, and Aftershock are all close enough for those ~6” usb cables. The C4 and Aftershock have upside down mini usb while the hub and Soleman have rightside up usb connectors. (For lack of a better term).
I used the rightside up on the Hub and picked up 1 more upside down for the C4/AS. (That 4 pack only has one of each direction). I used the 90* rightside up for the Soleman and the 90* upside down is extra for now but I think it’ll work for our Tascam field recorder we use for band practice.
It’s all nice and tight from the rear, they just loop underneath the riser and connect to the hub.
To get from the Soleman to the hub I used that 90* mini and a short 3ft amazon basics usb extender that I looped the excess under the M9’s riser. All nice and neat!
It was a total of $24 for all the cables and the extender as I already had the Sabrent usb hub, but that’s only 7.99 on Amazon these days. Worth it for my OCD!
On mine? Those are from a pack of cheap Mooer barefoot buttons that happened to color code with what I had. The extra height helps with the riser and dual row setup. Also nice for barefoot playing of course!

The ones on the pedal board shown by the OP look to be metal, I think I would crush the plastic looking ones. How well do they hold up?

I’d say better than the metal ones. The guitar player in the band got the metal ones with the set screw and his keep on slipping off if he stomps off center. These are forgiving, so there’s that.
The mooer plastic ones are limited to the most common size switch (won’t work on the SansAmp or the M9) but they are HARD plastic. I really don’t see them breaking unless you dropped the board onto concrete button side down....
I do live sound at a very busy venue where we have 7-8 bands a night. Each band gets a 45 min set, and we got 15 min for set up/breakdown in between sets. Yet, from time to time, I see this happen. Once a guitar player showed up with his amp, pedalboard that was huuuge, and 4 guitars with their stands etc.. They had to play a shorter set because of him tuning his guitars and getting ready. I mean I get that they get excited and all that but if it's not a stadium concert but a bar gig, c'mon...
Over compensation syndrome, it’s like the guys that drive the pickups trucks that are 4 feet off the ground with tires almost as tall as them...
I played in a band with a guy who absolutely had to use his AxeFx and another board full of effects for 45 minute slots. It took nearly that long for him to set up.
On guitar, I bring one amp, 2 guitars, and a board. Biggest I gigged with was a PTjr. Setup was 5 minutes.
I’m all for bring whatever you want. Just be quick about it.
