Why, pedaltrain?

Imagine if someone were to invent an implement with two sides, each sort of knife-like with sharp edges? And then some attachment or screw binding them together, and handles on each end that would allow the knives to swivel, separate and connect, where it would allow one to neatly cut edges and the like between said connecting edges?

They could call it something like, "intersecting dual-blade tool", or "acu-cutter" or, something crazy like "scissor".

My Pedaltrain Pro came with a soft case that only fits the pedalboard, put any pedals on the back row and it absolutly will not zipper shut. I use the soft case for storing airbrush stencils now. It is a great sturdy board but...

Don't worry: If you ever need to buy a new soft case, say, hypothetically, if your cat pees in it, it's going to cost you more than the board itself for some reason.

I sent this to patent examiner (for reals). He said, “Sounds novel to me. I’ll give them a patent.”

I don't know, I've a Pedaltrain Jr. with the soft case, and for the money, it's been nothing but great for the past 12 or so years.

I use 3m DualLock, much better quality and you can get rolls of it on eBay in various widths. For your board, looks like 1.5" would be a good fit.

thank you, noted for the future, since I’m already going with Velcro for this one.

to everyone else:
I wound up cutting a roll of some type of hook-and-loop I had lying around to the proper size, as I’d stated earlier.

My point was that I shouldn’t have to do that, not that it can’t be done.

Why?

rationally, I shouldn’t be this upset. BUT WHY???

the flat portion is about 1 7/8” wide, loop fastener is 1 15/16”, maybe more. Tried putting it on anyway, yep it hangs off the side so I removed it.
I have a roll of similar fastener in the garage, but it’s a full 2”.

I love everything else about this board and carrying case, but isn’t pedaltrain like, the gold standard of this type of thing? I’m really surprised by the oversight.

I just ran a razor down the edge that overhung using the rail as a guide. It took like 2 min..... just a suggestion.


I get what you're saying, but yeah, no matter what we get gear wise, it seems you simply can't please everyone.

If that's going to push you over the edge, I sure hope you don't have any Boss pedals you plan to put velcro on!

I haven't tried it personally, but I did read somewhere that you can flip the back plate of Boss pedals over and attach Velcro, which keeps the rubber pad intact.

You can also buy 3D printed base plates to replace Boss plates if you have a vintage pedal you don't want to screw up. I found mine on reverb.

I just wrapped the velcro around the edge of the board’s slat.

I have not had a problem with it at all, been about 8 or 9 years now IIRC.

Everyone you work with is at least kinda dumb. Everyone you went to school with is at least kinda stoopit. Heck, even most relatives. Look to your right, look to your left. Why should that one small company be any different?

I've shared a similar thought: when considering the people with whom you work, remember that when they were hired they were considered the absolute best candidate for the role they are in at the time of their hire.

Occasionally I'm left scratching my head when I think of people I used to work with in the past.

You can, but their screw heads are so big that the velcro barely makes contact. The huge screws don't matter when there is 1/4" of rubber pad there but when it's flat they are like standoffs.

Whenever I receive a used pedal that has soft side velcro stuck to it I just throw the whole thing in the dumpster. Pedal ruined. Seller should specify 'SOFT velcro on pedal' in the ad.

Makes sense.

(Since I know I am in the minority, I remove my soft velcro whenever I sell a pedal)

They do not. They also do not supply a surface that you can put velcro on.

I don’t know if he still makes them, but some guy had a little business going making plastic casings you could pop your Boss pedals in that had a flat back to apply Velcro to. Much better solution than turning the case cover inside out.

I've always just turned the bottom plate inside-out, fixes the issue every time for me!

Genius! How is this the first time I'm hearing of this? My Boss pedals have been falling off my board when stored on it's side (in its case) for years. I don't know how I never noticed a solution so logical. Thanks.

Maybe someone already freaked out that the supplied Velcro wasn't wide enough for full coverage?
