Whys is Fieldy so disrespected on TB????

I have no problem whatsoever with Fieldy. He's taken a new approach to playing, whether it's widely accepted or not. As has been said, Korn wouldn't be Korn without him (it should be noted that I'm not a big Korn, or Fieldy fan).
We can't look at what the kiddies say as gospel. Hell I remember one child several years ago who insisted Hoppus could walk all over Jaco. Seriously... is it even worth debating?
More power to Fiedly for taking a distinctively different approach, making it work, and making a BOATLOAD of cash in th process. Most mainstream pop artists are not virtuosos... And many are rudimentary at best. They are doing what they love and making a LOT of coin. Why hate? I'd love to cut my talent level in half (or more) to be able to live that life. I have no problem admitting that. Do you?

Someone said he fits the band, which he does very well. I mean, he hasn't really played with any other bands right? Ergo, he fits the band and what they do. And if he fits the band and what they do, how bad can he be?

i hate on fieldy for a few reasons.
first off, he doesent sound musical. the sounds he produces are displeasing.
hes famous, yet a guy like reed mathis (jacob fred jazz odyssey / tea leaf green) is playing large clubs 4 nights a week with little to no recognition..
if i played like him i'd get fired..
you can love him all you want. think hes great. enjoy his music. you cant change others oppinions about him without giving us a reason to like him. if there was footage of him playing like duck dunn or pattitucci or anyone respected around here, i'd never use him as an example of "what not to do" again. but untill then, he stinks, i'm entitled to my oppinion as much as you are.

Besides, he got to like slap and pop techniques in metal, which I recently did on a riff piece my guitard/drummer came up with, and made it sound much more the awesome.
Sense I all ready know this thread is going to be closed... **** you guys that hate Fieldy but some of you are right If you don't like don't listen to him. He is better and rich so I think he wins. He hits a string and make a $100.00 you guys practice and practice and are in clubs every night well at least until you die or it's just a hobby. And dude (The modifier) ever one was quiet about this argument until you said something shh. Anyway Korn got me into music so if i wasn't for them I would have never have heard all the other great bands so lay off them guys.

I think Fieldy's style fits the band. IMO it's kinda innovative.

I'd be willing to bet you that Fieldy has inspired more kids to get into playing bass than Vic Wooten has! For that alone, he should get some respect from the bass playing community.
I know there are some out there, but why don't I see as many "Michael Anthony sucks" threads? Is a plucked Open E string tougher to pull off that a slapped B string?

I'd be willing to bet that Wooten has inspired many more people to become a better bassist than Fieldy ever will be.
Best summary so far. Yeah, I am glad for his success, but his style of playing does nothing for me.
Yes, Wooten does have a very gifted talent for bass ive seen countless videos of him and he actually has talent that most of us in here will never achieve, what I meant by Fieldy has no talent is basically his certain basslines(click lines) only require the first 8 frets of the thing that fieldy plays hehe, I was playing Korn covers when I was 14 all by ear and perfect down to the last click, yet it is sad how many youtubers emailed my cover videos asking me to give them "tabs" (there is no such thing as a Korn bass tab) a monkey with a good thumb could play korn bass covers, thats not to say I dont like it, simply it takes 0% talent to cover a fieldy "click line" just a good thumb and a sense of rhythm.
Still most people around here judge Fieldy more by his personality and fans, than his rattle playing, well everyone is entitled to their opinion, this thread was just me venting a bit.
Of course he has! That's the whole point that I'm trying to make here!
I respect the type of music that Vic Wooten plays...but I have ZERO interest in listening to it most of the time...check the album sales. I'd be willing to bet that Korn has sold 10 MILLION more units than ALL of Vic Wooten's projects COMBINED!
Does that mean it's better music? NO! Does that mean that more people listen to it? YES!
If there is any bassist that draw attention to the instrument: Claypool, Jaco, Flea, Graham, Bootsy, Geddy or any other guy...I GIVE PROPS TO THEM! They're building the foundation for the next generation of low-enders...

anyways, whatever. there are plenty of worse bass players than him. though, im by no means saying he is good...
I think that this is the source of most of the abuse that he gets on Talkbass. You've got to say a couple of things for him, love him or hate him, he is original, and his style fits perfectly with Korn's music.
