Whys is Fieldy so disrespected on TB????

I really like Korn and i think the bass playing of Fieldy fits just fine. No he is not a Voctor Wooten (thank god for that) ..and so what?
But.. to all of you who doesnt think he does his job properly... Please go ahead and record some Korn tunes and LET US ALL HEAR how it really should be done! I cant wait to hear Korn music with a REAL BASS PLAYER.

Okay, I didn't know who Fieldy was by name, I have heard of Korn (Freak On a Leash vid) but just now decided to pay attention to the bassline.
I don't like...and that's okay haha.
The second vid's title says "Fieldy Slap Solo (Good God)". "Good God" would imply something awesomer than awesome, and it ain't there haha.
We all come from different backgrounds, so we know what we like, and new stuff is either gonna appeal to us or suck, and seldom (if it deals appeal) it will replace our background. If you like his sound, swagger, fans, band, great, if not great. He'll do him and you'll do you seen?

Personally, I'd rather be a creative genius like Page than a technique monster like Malmsteen.
Page just walked into the recording session and improvised the solo to Stairway to Heaven, in one take, the first and only take, or so the story goes.
That solo has been an inspiration to guitarists for generations, including the likes of Slash and Kirk Hammett when they've made some of their finest work.
You mean because he can't play the way YOU choose to play, I dont see exactly what you mean by "he cant play" as seeing as even his "percussionist" style does require you to produce that sound out of the bass, althought I can emulate his sound just as well with a baby rattle
You know, it's easy for us to sit here and say that something new even though it is ******** and hardly musical in any sense (unless you're that guy who opens the piano and just stands there for four minutes or whatever it is) but we have to be open minded and politically correct nowadays, right?
That video made me want to puke. Did you see how they're explaining how to play the stuff in a format similar to a guitar hero layout?
Ok, let me get back on track on what I wanted to say.

I can go sit on a snare drum and fart on it and say it's innovative and a new approach to music and blah blah blah, but it doesn't mean it is positive music structure that will help to evolve music as we know it. I'll just be known as the guy who put a video on youtube of me farting on a snare drum.
Of course he fits the band. Ever notice how it's easier to play something that you wrote than to learn something someone else wrote?
I agree with this - when you are playing your own stuff or improvising lines then it's generally what falls comfortably under your hands.
It's only when you try to play a line written by a great musician that you get really stretched!
Hey, you guys should stop dissing Fieldy. He is actually an awesome player.
I saw his instructional DVD recently; jaw-dropping command of the fretboard, tasteful and restrained lines that gave 'space' to the backing music of the jazz ensemble accompanying him. He spoke thoughtfully about what bass meant to him and was genuinely humble at being blessed with the opportunities he has had, as an artist and lover of the creative arts in general.
I am just jealous of course, he's crap.

Well I got to meet the guy this past Saturday 14th (signing copies of his book), he's actually a pretty chill relaxed person when you meet him, hes not cocky in any way in person, and hes really cool overall towards us the fans, it was no give me the book and go experience, you actually got to talk to him face to face for a good while.
In the context of most rock music, no. Jazz and fusion can get a little hair raising. I had written parts for a band I was in that got hard to nail if I wasn't constantly practicing.
