Will Ampeg ever make a Micro?

Heh, I thought my Pf 800 IS a micro. Guess I'm mistaken. Difference being is every other micro I see and touch is in a thin delicate tin case. The Pf's are heavy steel that'll take a beating.

I guess I just don't get the op. Me dummy.

I just got home from rehearsal using my pf350 through a 4ohm 215 that sits in the room so I don't use my Pf cabs. It is blazing loud.

Most of the bs about them is from cats that never used one.

Portaflex is Class D, and I've heard good things about them. Some Pro series have Class D amps. The SVT 7 PRO has a tube preamp, and weighs only 15 lbs. 1000 watts of power for $800! This isn't a strong point?

I don't know where the animosity is coming from, but you need to lay up. I do "get it" now, especially since I didn't know about folks actually carrying amps in cases/bags. I never once said any setup is better or best. Being that I don't even use an amp, I have no real care either way. If you have a micro rig that works for you, awesome. I use modelers, sometimes with an amp but a lot of times straight to FOH. Every band I see or play with up in this area doesn't have anyone using the micro amps, so I genuinely curious. If you think I was trolling, that is on you.

To the folks that showed me their setups and their thinking behind it - thank you! Some of those setups are very, very cool. I wish I had setups like these when I still lugged traditional amps to shows. Ya'll can go back to talking about Ampeg doing a new micro, as I'm now done with this thread.

I thought the pf 500 was ampegs version of a micro. I went from a svt 2 and a 810 cab to a eden wt 300 which is a micro IMO. AMPEG MAKES GREAT AMPS the pf 800 is a cool amp for sure.

He's a TC fan who has been hanging onto a 6 year grudge about me being so vocal about their wattage games when it was first discovered. Whatever.

The Databass and the MegaBass. Neither was anything like a micro class amp though. Link Removed

The GKs came out in the early 90s, I think. Lots of jazz upright players used 'em, so youse rockers might have missed all the fuss easily enough. In my circles things like Walter Woods and Polytones were fairly common well before that even.

The Databass and MegaBass...LOL! Nope, not like micro class at all, bro :D

Was unaware of the MB150 being out that long, but had seen the Walters and Polytones. But Polytones weren't micros and Walter Woods is a small boutique company so I didn't count him.

Polytone combos were thought of as pretty radically small at the the time they came out, but they were pretty much a small boutique outfit too. Polytone tech support was often less than swell too. Those early Peavey "Digital Amps" weren't exactly popular with techs, same for the G-Ks with the switch mode supply. Nothing new under the sun, really.
