Buy several helium-filled balloons in neon colors and attach them to your bass to make it lighter.

And Marcus 5 years later...
OP, how are you doing? Hopefully still playing?
Or the laughter caused her to forget about the bass, take up the triangle, and join the Chicago Philharmonic. Her profile says she was last on the site in September of 2012. Hopefully that means she's too busy gigging to log on here...
Yeah, I saw a pic of Gatemouth Brown with his double neck guitar on a stand like that. You gotta play.Get one of these or play sitting down. Why would anyone laugh at you because you are injured? Have a little faith in humanity

I wish my bass weighed less, but I don't think it's heavy as basses go. It's just a Warwick Rockbass Classic. It weighs the same as my Ibanez. I think some Warwicks are pretty heavy, but mine isn't.
Since the two-shoulder straps are only $20 I'll try that first. Maybe I need to strap it around my waist and spin it around like ZZ Top?
I've considered renting a midget to hold it for me, but I think midgets are expensive.
If all else fails I'll play sitting down, but my friends are rockers and they like to jump around the stage. I'd probably feel weird sitting down. Fortunately (?) the lead singer left and we haven't found a replacement so I have time to find a solution! (The lead vocalist was a jerk, so I'm glad he's gone!)
Thanks guys! Especially for the laughs. I needed 'em.![]()

My back and shoulders are finally starting to give me trouble when playing. I'm just gonna hire a midget to dress like Gene Simmons and hold my basses and guitars over his head while I play them.![]()
Am I going to look MEGA stupid standing on stage with one of those two-shoulder bass straps?
Absolutely no. I've a fellow bassist that plays with two crossed straps and she looks perfectly OK.
